Romantic farm cottage near the coast, with stunning mountain views. Enjoy peace and quiet in an unspoilt landscape, yet just a short walk from the historic village of Nevern, with its ancient church and traditional pub. Nearby Newport has cafes, restaurants and galleries and is only a 5 minute drive away, as is the famous Pembrokeshire coast path. Sandy beaches, secluded coves, woodland and mountain walks are all within easy reach. A perfect retreat for a couple wanting to get away from it all.

The space
The Cart House is stylishly furnished and thoughtfully equipped, so you can make the most of your stay in beautiful North Pembrokeshire. It's an interesting 'upside down' cottage, with the open plan living area on the first floor and the bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. Both floors have doors leading to the private patio where you will find both a barbecue, table and chairs, and an array of potted plants - perfect for al fresco eating or just star gazing. The cottage has a wood burning stove for cosy evenings in by the fire and electric heating throughout. The comfortable double bed has feather duvets and pillows and crisp cotton sheets (non feather substitutes are available for allergy sufferers).
A well behaved dog is allowed, but please be aware that we have sheep on the farm. Regret, no cats or other pets allowed.
The cottage is on a farm, in a very quiet and peaceful part of Pembrokeshire. Alice is also an artist and has a small studio and gallery in the farmhouse.

Where you’ll be

Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom

We are in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, world renowned for its outstanding natural beauty. Just a short walk away is the historic village of Nevern, with its family run pub, the Trewern Arms, charming St. Brynach's church, 10th century Celtic cross and 5th century Ogham Stone. A short walk from the church brings you to the ancient Pilgrims Path, used for hundreds of years by pilgrims making their way to St. Davids. You can literally follow the Pilgrims footsteps, worn away over the centuries into the slate. The path follows the banks of the beautiful Nevern river until it reaches the sea at stunning Newport Bay.
There are some fabulous walks along the coastal path, as well as beaches and coves, too numerous to mention. We are a 5 minute drive to the sea and during the summer a local bus company runs a shuttle service along the coast for walkers. The Preseli Hills are also a magical place, with numerous neolithic sites dotted throughout the area and numerous footpaths and bridle ways to explore.
Nearby Newport is a pretty seaside town offering a fantastic array of eateries. We also have art galleries, an antique shop, a local butcher, wholefood shop, hardware store, Post Office, Chemist and small supermarket. There's an interesting street market held every Monday and the community run Memorial Hall has a vibrant and varied mixture of cultural events and activities running throughout the year.
The Cart House is a 10 minute drive from the old county town of Cardigan, which has 2 supermarkets (Tesco and Aldi) and a variety of shops along its pretty High Street. It's also worth a visit to Theatre Mwldan, which hosts a great selection of films, theatre, comedy and music events.
For adventurous types there are a wealth of activities on offer, from sea kayaking and coasteering, to paragliding and surfing.
Visitors to the area are often struck by something else that is rarely mentioned in the tourist brochures, and that is the warmth of the local people. We live in a very welcoming community and we all hope you'll enjoy you're stay here.
