Our Arctic Cabin is an alternative type of accommodation for people who enjoy camping and the great outdoors, but appreciate the warmth and luxury of a solid roof. It is a timber cabin with a barbecue/fire pit as its centre. The seats convert easily from a comfortable cooking, eating and lounging area into three single beds. The cooker/burner will keep you warm all night. You will have 24hr exclusive access to the toilet and shower room just inside the nearby back door of our house.

The space
The Arctic Cabin is 10 square metres inside, creating a cosy, intimate, fun environment. Warm and snug in the winter and a welcome shade in the summer, it features the following:

- Comfortable seating around a central BBQ Grill
- Barbecue coals, kindling, coal and logs available to buy (£15 should cover everything you need for a 24 hr stay) or bring your own.
- Arctic pine construction, including timber floor
- Double glazed, secure opening windows
- Double glazed, secure door with mortice lock
- Top quality shingle roof
- Table fitted around the grill
- Quality adjustable LED lighting
- Bench cushions
- All crockery and cutlery provided
- Benches convert quickly and easily into 3 separate single beds, using the bench cushions as mattresses. (You will need to bring your own sleeping bags or bedding and pillows. Laundered sleeping bags are available to hire if you can’t bring your own - £2.50 per person.)
- Fire extinguisher
- Carbon Monoxide detector
- Kettle, toaster and extra blankets are available for your use if required.

Moorside Farmhouse is a residential property set in open fields with stunning views over Stainburn Forest, Otley Chevin and beyond. You will be 600 feet above the Wharfe Valley with extensive views to the South and West. We are 2 miles from Stainburn, a tiny village between Otley and Harrogate, on the edge of Nidderdale AONB and close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Safe parking is available and plenty of dry, lockable storage facilities for bikes.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to use the integral barbecue for cooking in the Cabin. You are welcome to bring your own barbecue coals, or we can supply you with coals and logs for a fair price. £15 should cover everything you need for a 24 hour stay. Toilet, shower and washroom facilities are available for your exclusive use at the back door of the main house. Guests are welcome to use the surrounding decking and garden area near the Cabin. There is also an indoor relaxation area in one of our barns, with comfortable seating, a fridge, pool table and dartboard. There is access to footpaths and trails directly from the house and gardens.

Other things to note
Guests will need to bring sleeping bags and everything they might need for a comfortable overnight camping experience. Laundered sleeping bags can be provided if you can’t bring your own - £2.50 per person. Guests should also note that our nearest shops are about 5 miles away.
Bring a torch as the site is very dark at night. Toilet and shower facilities are a few metres away at the back door of the house. There is electric power and light in the Cabin.
Dogs are welcome in all areas of the property. Dog cleanliness is greatly appreciated. We ask for a small extra charge of £5 per dog per visit, payable by cash or transfer during your visit.
Please note also that our price per night is based on one or two adults staying. An extra £10 is charged if you have a third adult staying. Children are most welcome free of charge, so don’t include them as an extra person when you are booking.

Location

Harrogate, England, United Kingdom

This is a very quiet and peaceful rural spot and you will be very close to a working farm with cattle, sheep, horses and machinery. The location is perfect for walking, cycling and exploring Yorkshire. The Smiths Arms, Beckwithshaw, and The Square & Compass at North Rigton are our nearest pubs, both serving excellent food and drinks. Nearby Otley and Harrogate offer a great variety of pubs, bars and restaurants. Brimham Rocks, Bolton Abbey, Fountains Abbey, Harlow Carr Gardens and Ripley Castle are popular attractions close by. The stunning Almscliffe Crag, a mecca for local climbers and boulderers, is only 2 miles away. There are challenging cycle routes in every direction and the Norwood Forest MTB trail is only a short ride away. We are also close to Knaresborough, Ripon, Pateley Bridge, Ilkley, Leeds, York and Bradford if you prefer to visit the wonderful villages, towns and cities of Yorkshire. Or you can just sit on the decking and enjoy the views, abundant birdlife (including red kites, buzzards and sparrow hawks) and occasional roe deer across the fields.

During your stay
Your hosts live in the Farmhouse and will usually be around during the day, but guests will enjoy privacy, seclusion, peace and quiet. We are also close to a working farm with all the expected noises, sights and smells of cattle, sheep and occasional machinery. Please note that there are two other guest spaces (self-catering apartments) on the site and it is possible that our other guests will be enjoying their own garden and outdoor spaces nearby. There is ample car parking space which you might be sharing with our apartment guests.
