Come stay in our cozy cabin nestled in the woods, alongside the Gatineau River. It’s just a short 15 minute drive from downtown Ottawa, followed by a beautiful five minute walk into the forest. This is truly an off-the-grid cabin experience with some perks, so come ready to disconnect and relax.

The space
We built this cabin in the woods behind our home. It’s a completely secluded spot without interruption, but you are still only a short drive from any possible amenities you may need (i.e., grocery store, pharmacy, gas station). As previously mentioned, the cabin is off-the-grid, meaning there is no running water, but there is electricity powered by solar-energy. This means the cabin is completely lit and you are able to charge devices (i.e., phone). Please do not charge larger devices, as this will drain the battery quite quickly. All that said, there is no wifi. You will have access to an out-house with a compostable toilet. We also provide our guests with drinking water, as well as any water needed to cook and clean dishes. Additionally, the cabin is heated with a very efficient wood stove. The kitchenette is well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, a coffee press and some basic cooking needs (i.e., spices, flour, salt, pepper, sugar). We also provide a small stove-top for cooking.

Guest access
There’s lots of great things to do surrounding the property. During the winter, feel free to use the snowshoes provided or bring your own cross-country skis. When temperatures have been consistently cold, the river freezes enough for skiing. We're also just a 10 minute drive from Nakkertok and 12 minutes from Mont-Cascade. Chelsea is a short 10 minute drive, where you can cross-country ski, explore the Gatineau park, plan a day at Le Nordik, as well as dine at some great restaurants. In less than 20 minutes you can be in Wakefield. Another great spot for outdoor activities, dining and shopping.

During the warmer months, you can take advantage of being on the water and all it has to offer. We’re fortunate to be located in a bay where there is no current and lots of privacy. We provide our guests with a canoe and paddles, as well as life-vests. There are lots of beautiful places to canoe to to enjoy a swim, and/or even a picnic. Feel free to let us know if this is something you are interested in and we can provide you with some info on where you can find the best spots! And of course, no matter what time of year it is, you can always enjoy our outdoor fire pit beside the cabin.

My family and I live on the property and can always be available to help or answer any questions you may have. You’re more than welcome to come hangout, grab some fresh eggs from our chicken coop and say hi to our dog Randall who is always looking for some love. We really hope you enjoy this little sanctuary as much as we do!
