Things to do:

Take a short drive down the road and see your favorite steak being fattened in the local feed lot and then enjoy the finished product at one of the many local eateries in the area. In 1979 we moved from Grayslake, Illinois to Manzanola, Colorado with a newborn son, a 21 month old daughter and a newly-turned four year old. Two years later we added another girl. Life was challenging. Willard knew about farming from being in the Midwest but this was a NEW WAY of doing things. They irrigated here with "tubes" and grew vegetables! It was a fabulous experience and many fond memories were made. Fast forward forty years. The free labor has grown and gone. No more fields of cantaloup, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes. Instead you see fields of hay and mazes of corn. You can still hear the hum of tractors, the clang of irrigation tubes and the howls of coyotes at night.. There are still the unobstructed views of the Milky Way on a clear night You can still smell fresh, clean air. Take a hike down to the Arkansas River behind the house and watch the deer come for a drink. Enjoy the natural seasonal beauty of the cottonwoods and watch the various species of birds that visit the area. Did you forget a travel item or feel a snack attack coming on? Visit Rainy at the Manzanola Trading Company and learn about some fascinating history of the Manzanola Hotel across the street and the "upstairs girls". If Rainy doesn't have what you need, Super Walmart is only 20 minutes to the east on Highway 50.Buserman's Farm Market is a few minutes away. La Junta, 20 minutes to the east, boasts the Koshare Indian Museum and dancers, Pueblo, to the west, the River Walk and Pueblo Jet Ski Rental at Lake Pueblo for a days outing. If you just want to "hang out" at the farm there are books and games to keep you entertained. Schedule a tour of the farm and surrounding area for an additional fee. Willard, the farmer/owner would love to share! Whether it's a peaceful get away you are looking for or some new, unusual experiences you will definitely enjoy your stay at Behm's Farm B & B! Come stay with us. The welcome mat is out.
