Comfy bed for better sleep

The room-darkening shades and extra bedding are loved by guests.
Waterfront oasis by the beach. Looking for a sanctuary - a safe, accessible, cozy, quiet place to rest? Let the sound of the waves lull you to sleep in this well appointed garden studio. The ocean view is from the garden, driveway, or cross the street for a beach walk. This private studio is ready to be your home away from home, in quiet desirable Oak Bay. Short drive to downtown, close to a quaint village, minutes from great walks. Contactless.

The space
People call this is a ‘tranquil’ space. Be lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean. You have private access to a large studio across the street from a wonderful beach walk, spectacular at low tide. The studio is furnished with a comfortable queen bed, desk, dining table, large screen smart TV, wifi, private bathroom (shower only). The heat pump gives you energy efficient warmth within minutes for a cozy feel in the comfortable space.
Outside your private space (in the adjoining room) is your fully equipped kitchenette and full size laundry. You can choose to dry your clothes outside on the clothesline on the deck or in the garden with the ocean air.

While this space is considered 'shared', I only come to that level for laundry 1/week, and avoid it if you are here for a short stay.
Note: The photos show the view from the front of the house and top of the garden. Your studio windows face the neighbour's home. So you can HEAR the ocean while you sleep, and it is steps from your door, but there is no direct ocean or garden view from your window.

We live in the garden capital of Canada. The enchanting garden steps lead to a Willow Bench that commands a priceless view of the Salish Sea, our Bay, Kitty Islets, lighthouse, and the Olympic Mountains in Washington, USA. Have breakfast garden-side while the hummingbirds ‘buzz’, and the lush garden soothes and restores. The anti-gravity lawn chairs make for a great afternoon respite.

Perfect for a single traveller, or couple. Not suitable for children.

Guest access
The private studio is the lower level of my home, and includes a large studio room with private entry and bath (shower only). The 'no step' accessible pathway to the studio is lit at night. Through the bedroom studio door you will find your kitchenette with laundry which is in the 'shared space'. If you are here for a week or more, you might see me in the kitchenette doing laundry. Enjoy the the garden deck to rest and recharge. There's a magical bench at the top of the garden to enjoy your morning coffee while enjoying one of the best views in Victoria - the Salish Sea and Olympic Mountains.

Other things to note
Coffee, Tea, local artisan granola provided. No steps - easily accessible. Bicycle rentals nearby , and neighbours rent / guide SUPs (Stand Up Paddleborad) and kayaks…10 houses away. You can launch right in the bay!

My work: Facilitator and Coach to strengthen engagement, build community, for a socially just, culturally rich and environmentally responsible future
I am happy to share this beautiful space, and meet journey-ers from all parts of our wonderful world, near or far, and learn what you love and care about. We are one tribe, one home, for all. May the success of one be the success for all. That’s our next step towards being ‘Friends to Mankind’, doing what we each can, where we are. A former forester, I love to get my hands into dirt! Over the past few years I’ve restored the garden to native plantings (partially) and the rest into food and herbs. Most days I get out to walk the beach, hike up the hill behind the house, cycle or swim (in the pool, not the ocean!). Design has always been a passion – inside and out. My latest endeavor is ‘Zentagles’. Interests include green buildings and living buildings and engaging communities to contribute to our livingness. I stand for what I stand on! Our planet. One planet. I am fortunate to live in one of the most glorious places on earth. I’m happy to share as little or as much as I can about First Nations (who lived close by), early settlement, and our neighbourhood and city.
