The space
REFUND FOR NO DOGS: We have a $50 fee built into our cleaning fee for pets (there is no option for pet fees in ABB). If you are NOT bringing a pet, please let us know and we will refund you the $50 at the check-in of your reservation.

COVID - 19
We have two other units on our farm, so we may have potentially 6 other guests sharing the outdoor kitchen/shower facility. The other units are two tipis that are far away from the cottage and very private from one another. If you have questions regarding our cleaning protocol, please send me a message and I can send you our protocol.

This beautiful slice of the Columbia Gorge is in a secluded and rustic setting.
-This hand built cottage is made of strawbale wall with lime plaster, sheep's wool insulation in the cedar shake roof. This is a true experience! Views of Mill Creek Valley and Mt Hood in both the cottage and private patio. The cottage does not have a kitchen or bathroom INSIDE, however there is a covered pavilion with (almost) full kitchen, hot shower and composting toilet 100 yard walk away.
-Queen bed on main floor of cottage with another queen in the loft. Locally made organic wool/cotton luxurious queen sized beds with all bedding (All of our bedding gets washed every time, so no bedspreads that see multiple users between washes.) *see restrictions of winter bookings
- Hot water shower in our shared pavilion.
- Kitchen with grill, cook stove, small refrigerator, dishes/flatware, pots. Propane is provided. Kitchen facility is shared May - Sept.
-Refreshing & delicious well water.
- Cottage guests have access to a composting toilet outside of the cottage.
-Both the cottage and pavilion run completely on solar power.
-If you prefer to check in before 4pm, send me a message and I can often accommodate early arrivals.
- Dog bed provided for your furry friend.

A few things:
*Well behaved pets are welcome!
*Even though we are in the Pacific Northwest, it is very dry here in the summer, and campfires are banned by law during the months of May - Oct.
*We are a working farm. This means that occasionally we have equipment running in the early morning. So far, due to the location of the cottage and the direction the wind blows, this hasn't disturbed anyone yet. You are welcome to ask questions about our farm, and poke around.
*Although our location is wild and remote, we are only a 20 minute drive to downtown White Salmon, where you can find restaurants, grocery stores, and supplies. We recommend bringing flashlights and headlamps.
*The road here is bumpy, steep and not suitable for vehicles with low suspension. There is no residence at the farm, so if you are a solo traveler and uncomfortable with staying alone, then this is not a good fit. Not trying to sound scary, just want to provide as much info as possible for happy travelers :)
We look forward to meeting you!

WINTER: If booking November through Feb/March, please note that winter conditions can make this inaccessible. However, for snow-shoe access, send me a message (2.5 mile hike in)! Winter bookings will not have "running" water - so no hot shower. If driving access is available we will bring up potable water from our home for cooking, if snowshoeing/snowmobiling in then you will need to filter your own water from snow and bring your own bedding. Note that some of the information following is for our regular season, and some of it will not be correct for a winter booking:

Guest access
If you want green valleys, tons of wildflowers and less traffic visit us in the spring (April - June). If you are a sun worshiper, love heat and are looking to play in a watering hole or explore high up on the mountains, come during summer months (July - Sept). October is a beautiful month often filled completely with sunshine and lovely fall foliage, yet with cooler days & less people. November often marks the beginnings of rain and snow often follows near the end of the month. Come in winter if you love minimal crowds, rising fog from the valleys below, hot tea and a feeling of inward reflection.
Bring your mountain bikes or your hiking shoes. Or book a horseback riding trip with Northwestern Riding Stables, or a rafting trip with any of our amazing outfitters on the White Salmon River. There are so many trails and waterfalls to explore! We also have wonderful wineries, breweries and cideries throughout the gorge. The wild flower hikes on Mt Adams in the summer time are unbeatable. Or you may just choose to stay on the farm and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. It's a true paradise.

Other things to note
The biggest things to note are the following:
1. Fire danger is always a concern in our neck of the woods, so please be responsible. Do not park vehicles in the grass, and absolutely no campfires.
2. We have bears, mountain lions, mountain goats, etc grace our farm. Please be cautious and respectful to all of nature's creatures. We provide bear proof trash cans. Food should be kept in vehicles.
3. Again, this is rustic. There are no smooth walking paths or lighting. Please be capable of walking on uneven terrain.
