The River House was a wonderful place to use as home base to explore the nature, towns, and history of Vermont and New Hampshire. We loved waking up in the morning to the sound of the river, making coffee and taking our cups down the road to a wonderful wildflower field at the end of the driveway. Our yellow lab, Honey also enjoyed the many new smells, wading in the river, and running through the flowerfields. During our week, we used the kitchen and grill extensively and found the River House to have all we needed to make great meals. On chilly nights and mornings, a wood stove with cut firewood took the chill out of the room. The check in was fine and Susan was very responsive to any questions. The house was clean with plenty of room. We spent our days hiking in the beautiful mountains of VT and NH as well as exploring towns . There is a fascinating architectural salvage store a few miles west on Rt. 25 that was great exploring. Bradford is a nice little town with great people, nice restaurants, and a friendly farmstand we visited every day for fresh produce. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the River House.

The River house is so peaceful and relaxing and Susan and Dutch very accommodating. It was our second year in a row renting and we will definitely be back for more next year. The perfect place to unplug and recharge.

This is a wonderful, serene and restful location. It is close enough to town to access what you need and completely isolated when you are at the house. The sound of the river is beautiful. A campfire under the stars was great

We had a magical time at Susan and Dutch's river cottage. The deck, yard, and river views were serene and beautiful. The setting was better than the pictures. Susan was incredibly responsive and helpful through the whole process. We hope to visit their cottage many more times in the future! Thank you Susan and Dutch!

The River House is located on a most beautiful creek/river, set in a somewhat secluded and gorgeous forest. It is 30 minutes from Hanover and about 5-10 minutes from Bradford, which has nice restaurants, grocery, gas, etc. The property is easily accessible by car. We visited in the Spring - so I don't know about the winter accessibility. The house is quite rustic, with many unfinished architectural details, yet comfortable enough. It has all the amenities of a home. It is very peaceful and relaxing. Sitting in the living room by the wood stove is just wonderful, as is relaxing in the master bed with the French doors open to the sound of the river. Guests are asked to wash and dry towels prior to departure, clean the wood stove out and a couple of other small chores - so leaving time for all that is advised. Susan makes herself available by phone and e-mail and is very responsive to individual requests. For example, upon request Susan brought out mattress toppers for all the beds, to improve the comfort. Susan left makings for 'smores, a personal welcome note and a bottle of wine. Very gracious! Cell phone service is limited; but the River House has wi-fi; so you can set up the phone to use wi-fi calling and send and receive texts. Sometimes calls will go through, and there is a land line in the cabin. An outdoor bonfire pit is available and makes for a wonderful evening of 'smores and fun by the river!
