Willing to experience the real Tuscan countryside and get in contact with local people? Welcome to our farm! This cozy two bedroom house is perfect for a lost-in-nature holiday for a family or a group of four.

The space
The self-catering house has antique terracotta tiled floors, wooden beams and rustic Italian farmhouse furnishings. It has two bedrooms with one double bed and two single beds (that can be turned into another double bed), two bathrooms (one with bath tub and one with shower), a cozy kitchen-living room with two sofas.
Located on the ground floor of a typical Tuscan "casa colonica", the front door opens directly to the outdoors for easy access to the grassy lawn. It has a private patio and a private pergola for eating outside. It is spacious and cool during the summer, warm and cozy during the winter. Central heating is included in the price.
The rent is part of a "casa colonica", which is divided into three portions. Perched on the side of a hillock, the "colonica" has a classic Tuscan structure with a large porticoed entryway. It is surrounded by apricot, loquat, cherry and peach trees with olive trees interspersed on all sides.
The rent is part of our 500 hectares organic farm. When choosing to stay with us, our guests have the unique opportunity of sharing the everyday life of a Tuscan working farm. They'll be in contact with gorgeous nature and with an Italian and international staff.

Guest access
Lost in the countryside and very quiet, this is a house that encourages solitude, while also offering space for gathering. The house has a shared swimming pool (10m x 5m, not heated) open from mid May to end September. There's a shared laundry and you can find BBQs.
The nature surrounding the house have multiple hiking trails that take you down the main farm building or at the lake. You'll have a map of the property when you check-in.
The main farm building is at 20 minute walk downhill (3-5 minute drive - 1,2 km on a dirt road). At the farm there is a small shop where we sell our olive oil, honey and white truffles (when in season), as well as other local and organic basic (yet delicious!) products. Around the main farm building, you can visit many animals – who often become the main attraction of our youngest guests: cows, pigs, cats…

Other things to note
You're going to stay on a working farm. We've dirt roads connecting the houses to the main farm building. Regular cars are fine, but low sport cars are not recommended for driving within the farm.
This is an organic farm. That means living nature, including... insects, especially during summer. If you're allergic to bees or wasps, this might not be the right place for you.
This is a place where to disconnect from a busy life: no Tv, no DVD players, no air conditioning, just (gorgeous) nature, BBQs, walks, and exploring.
Bring appropriate shoes (if it rains it can be muddy) and expect real (yet very comfortable) countryside living.

From the last week of September to December, only on specific days, you may find hunters on the property. They help keeping the wild boar population that lives within the farm under control (boars do love white truffles).

Our farm is a working farm and, while the utmost care is taken to provide a family-friendly experience, there are inherent dangers present in such a natural setting. Some guests suggested to remember that vipers can be in the area, though it is extremely rare meeting them. Some others are afraid of driving in the dark, and we remind that the roads inside the far have no lights. By completing a booking, guests accept full responsibility for their safety and the safety of all members of their party.

We provide linen and towels, kitchen cloths, hand soap, soap and sponges for the plates and toilet paper.

Free wireless internet access is available from the house.

Available Extras:
Extra mid-stay cleaning and linen change (must be requested at least one week before arrival): € 85
Baby cot (cm 120x60) + highchair + baby bathtub: €20 per stay (covers not provided)

Neighbourhood highlights

To take care of a 500-hectar organic farm you need to love it deeply. We believe nature to be excellent in carrying on its own tasks, but we like to give our contribution to bring harmony in the delicate balance between its needs and our own. The results make us feel we are the privileged dwellers of a heaven's corner.
The attention that AirBnB puts towards the upkeep and care of one's living space pairs perfectly well with our mission. Every bit of help our guests would like to offer toward the maintenance and upkeep of our property will be welcome.
The surroundings are genuinely dedicated to tourism and agriculture and therefore offer a rare glimpse into authentic Tuscany. There are multiple organic farms & local producers in the area.
The farm is an hour drive from Firenze, Pisa, Livorno, and one hour and 15 minutes from Siena and Lucca. San Gimignano, Volterra and less hectic Certaldo & San Miniato are very close (about 30 minutes drive).
Our dedicated guide book that we give you at check in will help you get the most out of the area, with tips on how to visit a local goat cheese farm, where you're most likely to spy some wild boars, which wineries are worth stopping in on, what classic drink you should order when visiting Livorno, the best artisans for souvenir shopping, and more.

My work: Farmer and host
Speaks English and Italian
Ten years ago I transformed my family's historic estate into an organic agriturismo. Since then, I divide my time between Florence, where I live with my wife and our three children, and the farm. Barbialla Nuova is 500 hectares of forests and pastures, 100% organic, where we raise Chianina beef, hunt for white truffles and produce honey & olive oil. There are hosts living and working on the farm. You can find me at the farm two days per week. We're all always happy to share the secrets of the area with our guests, so you can be sure to find the best restaurant, farm shop, artisan goods or simply the best way to spend a rainy day with the kids.
