PLEASE READ ALL THE INFO IN FURTHER DESCRIPTIONS because this is a specific area.Bakar is a small isolated village in the center of all large tourist places. It does not have a beach and you need to have a car to move arround. All the interesting places to see are in range of 5-20 kilometers(beach Kostrena,Crikvenica,Opatija,Rijeka).Studio has a small indor place and a large outdoor area(terrace and garden). It is located in old city up the hill and you have 30 stairs to get to the apartment.

The space
Bakar is a quiet and relaxing base near all the big cities. City of Rijeka is only 10 kilometers away from Bakar. Beautiful Kostrena beach (Žurkovo) is 6 km away and there you can enjoy a lot of peblly and concrete beaches, beach bars and restaurants. Crikvenica and Opatija are 20 minutes away. Don t expect some fancy tourist destination, Bakar is a small forgotten village in center of Kvarner with friendly people and a touch of history all around the city. Tiny apartment has everything except the oven and washing machine (if you need to wash your clothes we will do it for you in upper apartment)
The place does not have a kitchen, only small kitchenette with a sink and portable induction cooker with two plates so you can cook outside on the terrace. You can also cook on the grill in the garden. Or you don t have to because in Bakar there is always fresh fish and sea food in RIBARNICA place and you can have a whole meal for 7-8 euro. Your garden is fully fenced so you can enjoy your mornings without neighbors. A great quiet base away from the crowd but if you like exploring around the area, change places every day, then this is the place for you. If you are coming without high expectations, if you are a nature and outdoor lover, if you dont mind having only 25m2 of indor place (which has everything you need) then this is a place for you. Colorfull sunrises, friendly neighbourhood full of music, homemade food smell on the streets, lazy cats laying all around, kids playing outside their homes... Fresh fish by the sea, great coffe and drunk fishermans explaining all about life in Bakar could be your daily routine here. If you are not complicated person, if you dont mind driving your car to the beautifull beach which is only 5-6 kilometers from Bakar, if you dont like overpopulated tourist destinations, this is the place. If you like to chill under natural shade, grill in the garden, fishing on a special peer with remarkable village view, you will be happy here.

Guest access
Parking is free in the whole city and you can find it 70 meters from the house (a narrow one but if you are a good driver there is no problem:) or a little bit further on the streets of old city. You will not see your car (or motorcycle) from the house. The streets and parking spaces in Bakar are very narrow. You have aprox 30 stairs until you get to your apartment and we will help you carry your luggage. We will try to save you a parking space near the house upon your arrival.

Other things to note
The vacation in Bakar is not about the beach, bars or restaurants, it is all about the soul of this 1000 years old village. It is about good neighbours, cats and dogs walking free on the street, about open house doors and friendly people. It is all about village experience whose time has stopped a long time ago. The smell of the sea, fresh fish and amazing bay view with a glowy sunrise. Sound of the small fishing boats and ships, birds chirping, small streets made of pebbles, people just sitting on their porches. That is the vibe of this village, and if you really want to feel it, you should definitely be a part of it even for a little while.
You can go around all the city by foot, everything is near, but there are a lot of stairs. The best way to come in Bakar is by car because the village is connected to other places only with main road. Bakar has two restaurants, one small fish bar, two small grocery shops, a good butcher who has fresh meat and a few bars. Large supermarkets are 5 km away from the city.
TIPS AND FACTS:
- not suitable for people with alergies especially not for dust and pollen alergies (as soon as you open the door the dust and pollen comes in because there are large green areas around the house)
-you will hear birds, ships, a pale sound of train going above the city twice a day, church bells and all usual noises in surroundings which every place has.
- don t expect a 5 stars apartment, it is only a small studio with a large relaxing outdoor area.
-the village is very small, not a lot of things to do here but perfectlly placed in the middle of all major tourist destinations, mountains, national parks and beaches.
- parking is free in the whole area, you can park near the house or in the street and your car is safe here, we take care of each other cars and bikes.
-a lot of cats in the village on the streets and if you leave the doors open, they will come in.
-if you need to buy some food and supplyes before arrival, I suggest you stop at some supermarket because in Bakar there are only two-three small shops, mostly working in the morning.
-you can not go by foot or bike to other places because Bakar is a bit isolated and connected to other places only with main road.
-If it is raining, you can not spend your time on the terrace
-If you don t have a problem with walking and stairs then this place will suit you. PARKING is 70 meters from the apartment, I will save you a space upon your arrival, but after, you are on your own search for parking. That parking is very narrow but I can not change that, if you are a good driver that will not be a problem. All the other parking spaces are in range of 150-300 meters from the house and everywhere is FREE.
- the apartment is equipped with everything (plates, dishes, glasses, umbrellas, beach towels, beach umbrellas, espresso cooker, filter coffe, toaster, soap, towels, toilet paper, fan, ear plugs, drying rack, mosquito repelents, salt, pepper, oil, other spices and all the other small things for everyday use).
-we have a small pottery studio in the house so if you like, you can buy some souvenirs with city Bakar motives

Neighbourhood highlights

Very quiet neighborhood and nice people always willing to help. You can drink your morning coffe on the big terrace or in some of the bars near the coast. There are two restaurants with good and fresh mediteranian food and fresh fish caught every morning. The sea in Bakar is very cold because it is the deepest bay in Croatia, so we suggest going to Kostrena beach (Žurkovo) which is only 5 kilometers from Bakar. It has 3 kilometers of various beaches, beach bars and good restaurants. Also, Island Krk is 10 minutes by car and there you can chose to go wherever you like.
