This is a one bedroom unit with a giant King bed, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, a futon, a daybed, backyard patio area, four bikes to borrow + your own private entrance! There is off street parking for two cars. Lots of perks for kids from a crib to a play kitchen. *Airbnb laws in DC changed in October 2019 and this is a legal DC short term rental. Yay!*

The space
This is a one bedroom apartment in the lower level of a DC row house. You have your own private back entrance. The back concrete patio area is a great spot to soak up some sun. The unit has great wifi and one smart TV with cable in the main room and another not so smart TV with an HDMI cord and Mac adapter in the bedroom where you can stream from your own computer. There are four bikes to borrow and helmets and yellow safety vests are also provided.

KIDS There are lots of perks for kids - childrens books, a play kitchen, kids silverware and plates, sippy cups, wooden toys, a baby bath, a stroller, a pack and play and a kids table with two kid seats are all provided. The home has a pack and play AND a crib. There are also two bike helmets for kids.

BIKES There are four adult bikes provided to borrow (more can be picked up at near by Capitol Bikeshare). There are many adult and childrens bike helmets and yellow safety vests for biking for you to borrow. This home is in an excellent location for biking.

COFFEE & TEA The home also has coffee and tea provided. There is a coffee pot, a french press, a moka pot, a kettle, a tea brewing pot, an electric kettle and various teas and coffees for you.

KITCHEN The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need from a spice rack to a blender. The home has a toaster, a blender, pots and pans of various sizes, a Crockpot (slowcooker), baking sheets, etc.

Guest access
You have full access to the entire one bedroom unit. Please do not go upstairs (unless there is an emergency) You have the entire lower level of the house. Please eat any coffee and food in the kitchen and use all of the oils and spices. Coffee and tea is provided. Please feel free to use the outdoor patio area and picnic table.

Other things to note
This is a great place in a typical DC rowhouse in an up and coming part of DC. Please note that you will have your own entrance but it is in the back of the house. Entrance is through the alley. It is very nice and Uber drivers will meet you there (if you want). It is also super easy to bike in and out of. Also please note that the ceilings in this unit are just under 7 feet tall (2.108 meters). I hope you have an amazing time in DC!

Feel free to use a bike and the bike parking in the back and use the helmets provided. If the borrowed helmet gets damaged in any way, please let me know. I just want to make sure the helmets are always in perfect condition! There are four bikes to borrow. Feel free to borrow them, but if you do you absolutely must use a helmet.

This unit is on the ground level so it tends to be cool. Great for the extremely hot DC summer, but in winter you may want it to be warmer so I provide extra heaters to make it toasty. There is a space heater in each room so that you can warm it up if desired. Please only run the space heaters while you are present and keep everything away from the space heaters while they run.

Please do not smoke inside. I have censors that can detect cigarette smoke in the house. If it is detected, you will be fined. Please feel welcome to smoke OUTSIDE in the back. There is a little white ashtray outside that you should feel free to use to smoke outside in the back. Thanks!

There are two external cameras on the back of the house. One you will see as you enter, the other is high up on the house with a view of the parking area. There are also two external cameras on the front of the house. All cameras are outside the house.

My place is a 3 minute walk from a small grocery store in the Anacostia Arts Center and from 7-11. The place is a 5 minute walk to a great restaurant/bar/coffee shop + event space called Busboys and Poets Anacostia. Another great place to pick up food nearby is Open Crumb. I am a young woman and I live upstairs as my home. I walk around this neighborhood all the time by myself and I love it.

This home is right near the 11th Street bridge and Anacostia Park. It is a five minute walk to the Busboys + Poets (a lovely restaurant, coffee shop and event space), the Anacostia Arts Center, Turning Natural (smoothie shop), Open Crumb, 7-11 and Subway. There is parking for two cars provided at the Airbnb. There is a bike share 4 mins from the house. There are always scooters in the neighborhood. It is super easy and quick to bike/scooter across the 11th Street Bridge. You can bike to Navy Yard and Eastern Market in 10-15 minutes and you can be on Capitol Hill by bike in 20 minutes (or less if you are fast!) The Anacostia Metro is a 15 - 20 minute walk from the house. There are multiple bus lines a five min walk away that will take you for to the Metro, over to Eastern Market + H Street and there is even a Circulator (my favorite bus) which is $1 and takes you to Union Station (DC’s main train and bus station - also the stop for the US Senate). In the other direction it will take you to the Anacostia Metro. The Anacostia Park is an absolutely beautiful place to run or take a very long scenic bike ride. The Anacostia Park has a giant pirate ship playground for kids. It also has an outdoor covered roller skating rink that is super fun in the summer. I highly recommend it!
