Where you’ll be

Maydena, Tasmania, Australia

The small riverside village of Maydena is the gateway to Tasmania's World Heritage wilderness and an ideal stop for those on their way to remote Lake Peddar.

Maydena sits by the Tyenna River, south west of New Norfolk between Mount Field National Park and Lake Pedder. The village has a rich forestry heritage but is now better known for its close proximity to some of Tasmania's most beautiful natural places including Mt Field National Park and Southwest National Park.

Mt Field National Park, before Maydena, is home to one of Tasmania's most beautiful waterfalls - Russell Falls, a tiered–cascade waterfall just a short walk from the park's visitor centre and one of several waterfalls in the vicinity.

At Maydena, experiences include a walk though some of the tallest trees on earth at the Styx Big Tree Reserve and the Railtrack Riders - a unique pedal-powered experience on an historic stretch of railway track.

Maydena Bike Park is a gravity-focused mountain bike park offering something for everyone, from families through to elite riders.
The Summit café and bar located at the top of the bike park offers one of the most unique dining experiences in Tasmania, with unrivalled 360-degree alpine views across stunning Tasmanian Wilderness.

Maydena also offers a range of great rainforest walks that take in local wildlife, towering swamp gums, river and cave systems, glacial lakes and ancient heath groves.
