A secret charming village of craftsmanship rooted in Japan history.

The space
The house is over 80 years old, a traditional Kominka, 180 m2, 2 floors.
The first bedroom is 8 tatamis size, 4 people maximum(1 double bed, one sofa bed, one single bed)
Only you, your friend, group or family will be there at once, we won't have other guests except you at the same time.
Very cozy, friendly and warm atmosphere, 4 seasons, it is also the only place in the village with a coffee and lounge space(1st floor) not dealing with pottery.

We renovated this old kominka as a family project last winter, from February to June 2019.
The café space opened on June 15th, 2019 and now the Lodge is officially ready to welcome you, as of November 2019.
We were based in Tokyo, we also have 3 other listings there, but we decided to have a place here in Kyushu to get out of the concrete jungle.
So we are on and off here and there.
We renovated the whole place on our own and believed we did a pretty good job, or so we like to think:).
It is a place where you will be able enjoy the atmosphere of a rural Japan village in a comfortable and cozy atmosphere, a very peaceful environment, the soothing sound of the wind bell, a relaxing vibe, a sense of time sleep, the quietness of the evening and the Sound of Silence :), the sunsets and all the great walks within the immediate surroundings not to mention the beautiful places to discover all-around within 35 km radius, so we recommend you rent a car to fully enjoy the region and our place.
For the story:(source: ANA-CoolJapan)
Okawachiyama (大川内山) is a small, isolated village in the mountains just outside central Imari. Alongside Arita (in the neighboring valley), it was the first place in Japan to produce porcelain after kaolin - the mineral essential to making porcelain - had been found in the area and craftsmen with the necessary skills had been brought from Korea into the country.

Porcelain was an extremely valuable resource for the local ruler because of its superior quality to contemporary pottery. For that reason, the ruling Nabeshima Clan directly controlled porcelain production at Okawachiyama and built the village well defended and isolated in order to keep the technology secret, earning Okawachiyama the moniker "Village of the Secret Kilns".
The pottery produced in Okawachiyama became known as Nabeshima-yaki and was among the most exclusive.
Enigmatic and mysterious, the ceramic village of Okawachiyama was designated a National Historic Site.
For more info just do some search on the web, plenty to discover.

Guest access
Everywhere basically except the kitchen area and our private space on the 2nd floor.

Other things to note
-We have a small dog, Malo(13 y.o)
-The village is extremely calm and there are no shops, restaurants, bars around, you will find those in Imari city, just 4kms away.
-There are nice places to eat and drink there.
Coming back using a regular taxi or the Daico service that will bring you and your car for just ¥2,000.

-You can enjoy our lounge space in the evening of course, especially after Café hours from 18:00~ or day time too.
We offer each staying guest one free drink of your choice at the Cafe Lounge area during your stay.
-The kitchen space is not available for cooking.
-No Outside visitors allowed
-No shoes inside.
-Self-service Breakfast: cereals with milk or yogurt, coffee, Orange Juice, bread.
-We do not charge a cleaning fee, we would highly appreciate your cooperation and consideration in that matter. (use of the shower, toilet, bedroom, the lounge space and put the things to their original position after use)

-We recommend to go to the nearby Yutoku Onsen(site in English), there is inside and outside baths there and it 's just great for ¥700/person.
