Cool house, great mountain views, and cozy beds...couldn't ask for more during our one night stay in Gila. Read the description carefully, however; this listing is more of a private floor than an entire home.

Response from Azaima:
This listing includes two floors. The guests have the entire second floor to themselves. The downstairs part of the listing has its own entrance, bedroom, bathroom, and dining area, so, although there is another unit downstairs, the guest would have no reason to encounter anyone else.

Staying at Heart & Wings Retreat Hi&Lo was a real pleasure. When we arrived, Azaima greeted us and provided a quick but thorough orientation to the property. It was so beautiful and relaxing that we decided to stay in all evening, enjoy the fabulous deck outside the upstairs bedroom, and make dinner (after using the hot tub). We would do it again without hesitation. Oh yes, Azaima’s two dogs Zoli and Cassie were really friendly and well behaved..

The house was ready and welcoming for us. The very clean and unique house was comfortable and provided a relaxing vacation in the New Mexico countryside.

Host was not there when we arrived. We thought we had rented a house, but found out we had only rented part of a house. It is a very nice house, just know that you may be splitting it up with other people. It worked out ok just not what we are accustomed to when renting a place like this. We had rented the Hi and Lo so we figured we had the whole house only to find that there is a master and even someone rented a pull out sofa. Nice place just make sure you know what you gettting. We had a good time and that was what was important I guess. We had an issue with a gate at the top of a set of stairs to keep the owners dogs out. We didnt want to navigate it so we lifted it off the hinges and just left it off. Dogs never came inside anyway although we were told they were to have access to this part of the house. Dogs were nice. They actually just layed around outside and had a good time. I am just used to having a kitchen, and cooking my own meals etc. We wound up with a hot plate and microwave and mini fridge like in a motel. There were six of us and our only place to gather was at the dining room table worked out ok too. None of us had access to a recliner or really any comfortable chair. We were told by the master guests we could use their space, but we didn't really feel good about that, so we just made do with what we had. Lots of images of eastern religions etc. probably some spirits hanging around. As a believers in Jesus Christ we spoke to them and told them to leave, so we had no problem. Might of messed up the Karma though. Just ask a lot of questions and know you may be getting just part of a house, but it will be a nice part. Plan to eat out or eat sandwich or cereal as we did and you will be ok. No grill either, sorta wanted to cook a steak after 4 days on motorcycles. Which reminds me, the driveway is ok in a car, but kinda tricky on a bike. Thats my take. Nice place just wasn't what we expected it to be. Not disappointed, but not like we expected.

Oh what a completely wonderful experience! Azaima is an ambassador of hospitality and warmth. We were greeted with a smile, a yummy chocolate and even yummier smoothie, topped off with kind and caring tail wagging from her two doggies, who are simply giant cupcakes in disguise. They were adorable and wonderful to share with Azaima. A definite perk as we just love animals! The home was simply perfect...the setting was beautiful and the beds super comfy. We didn't bring much with us, but whatever we needed, the home provided. Lovely wood, great books, sparkling jacuzzi, smooth sheets and fluffy towels. Divine! A nice trail just outside the door was great for a morning hike to watch the world wake up. It was hard to leave! I was able to take in some healing time as well, and she helped guide me to a better place within. It was a pleasure to stay there, and while only one night, we left feeling as if we were there for much longer. Truly a great experience.

I'm a performing songwriter, astrologer, yoga teacher, interfaith minister, shamanic healer, retreat guide and creator of a healing modality called heart lightning, designed to quickly remove blocks that stand in the way of your making the changes you'd like to see in yourself and the world. One session is usually all you need. I've spent most of my adult life on the east coast, but moved to Silver City for the climate and the community. Although I'm a total introvert, I love getting to know people and helping them in any way that I can.
