Where you’ll be

Santiago de Puriscal, San José Province, Costa Rica

You will find yourself in a small rural neighborhood in the mountains far from tourist areas. It is a great chance to live close to nature and experience how local Costa Ricans live. The local community is very friendly and helpful. You are sure to make friends during your stay. For those guests new to the country, Costa Rica is very mountainous and varies greatly in elevation and terrain. The lower altitudes are dense, jungly, wet and contain some of the common jungle wildlife such as sloths and monkeys. These areas are much more familiar to foreigners. The higher altitudes in the mountains however are dryer, less dense with more open country and breathtaking views. These areas contain many ranches and more of the local Costa Rican populations. They are also rich in birdlife, fruit orchards, tree plantations, conservation areas, mountain rivers and waterfalls. These areas are generally visited by those seeking a more authentic Costa Rican experience, compared to the more touristy areas of the low lying jungle and beaches along the coasts.”

She speaks Spanish but knows how to use a translator app. A local youth can be your guide to the waterfalls and swimming holes and to the bat cave. Marta is happy to prepare your meals or to have a meal ready for you the day you arrive. Just let me know ahead of time so I can arrange this service.
