Launceston Farmhouse is a grade II, georgian farmhouse at the heart of an organic working farm on the Dorset/Wiltshire border just two hours from London and within easy reach of the M3 and A303. Sarah, the owner and farmer, was born here and has transformed the Farmhouse into a chic, home from home with all the comforts you could possibly imagine. The Farmhouse is perfect for families and groups of friends a like. All bedrooms are spacious, airy and light. All are ensuite and three have a slipper bath to enjoy long soaks with views across the walled farmhouse gardens and surrounding Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

There are delights to discover in the gardens and play orchard as well as chickens pecking about and lambs grazing and quite often cows will be nosying up to the Ha-Ha at the end of the garden. When it rains, the indoor pool and sauna are yours between 7am-7pm. Well stocked with toys and kept at a consistently warm temperature, afternoons are well spent enjoying this amazing facility.

Downstairs the Farmhouse has a large sitting room with an open fire, TV, DVD player and Wii Console. The traditional farmhouse kitchen with Aga is a lovely place for a family breakfast whilst the dining room is perfect for special meals and celebrations. Bifold doors open out onto the sun terrace and walled gardens.

In the Farmhouse gardens you will find hammocks to lounge in (spring and summer) and plenty of play equipment as well as a toddler play area with sandpit, playhouse and mud kitchen and two tree swings. The Orchard is great for den building and hide and seek in the willow tipi.

If you don't fancy cooking, farmhouse suppers or farm-sourced cooked breakfasts can be delivered to the door by cordon bleu trained chef and owner, Sarah (48 hours notice). The traditional country pub in the village, a five minute walk from the farm, serves up an excellent menu of locally sourced dishes along with all the pub favourites. It has an excellent garden and play area for children.

Take a trip to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast for a paddle in the ocean and the catch of the day. Enjoy a large slice of British heritage at one of the nearby National Trust and English Heritage Properties including Corfe Castle, Stourhead Gardens and Stone Henge. Nature lovers must visit Monkey World and Abbotsbury Swannery. Shop in independent boutiques for homewares and fashion in the Georgian market towns of Shaftesbury, Salisbury, Sherborne and Wimborne.

The space
Our location at the heart of one of England's most beautiful landscapes, and our proximity to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, makes Launceston Farm one of Dorset's hidden wonders. Launceston Farm is a comfortable, beautiful home from home to enjoy with family and friends where your every need is catered for, whatever the weather.

Guest access
Guests can access four of the six bedrooms in The Farmhouse and the family sitting room. The farmhouse gardens and play orchard are accessible as is the indoor swimming pool and sauna between the hours of 7am and 7pm. There are two other cottages on the site both sleeping two so please show consideration towards other guests.

Other things to note
We have a minimum stay of three nights.

All Super King beds are available as twins if needed. Please let us know before arrival.

Please remember that this is a working farm and we ask you not to enter the farm yard, to be vigilant when walking on farm tracks and not to enter any fields with livestock. If you would like to arrange a farm tour during your stay please let us know.

Staying in the Tarrant Valley gives guests the chance to enjoy an idyllic slice of British rural life, where time appears to have stood still all together. The Medieval thatched cottages clustered around the old village green are a delight to behold. Take a stroll from the Farm down to the village through the water ford to the award-winning village pub, owned by another valley farmer. This is the land of village fetes, duck racing and scarecrow competitions. Dorset cream teas and home made cakes are sold every Sunday afternoon in the village hall through July and August. Or head to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast for catch of the day. Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and the Isle of Purbeck are a 40 minute drive from the Farm.

At the heart of our business is our 2000 acre organic beef and arable farm which has been the bedrock of our family for over 100 years. We have steadily and lovingly converted our beautiful Georgian Farmhouse - where Sarah was born and raised - as well as some of the surrounding Victorian red brick barns into sumptuous self catering accommodation and a biomass heated indoor swimming pool. We know that sustainability is important. We work hard to protect and conserve our natural environment through our farming methods and responsible business practices and we work closely with our local community supporting local events and projects and providing employment and educational opportunities.
