Great location

Peeping frogs, singing birds, rustling trees, hooting owls, gurgling creek, howling coyotes: these sounds will surround you during a week here! Cabin is cozy, with an aesthetic we're calling (coining?:) supper-club-chic. The perfect place to read, relax, reconnect. Nestled in the heart of Wisconsin's Driftless area, a remote, lovely, nearly-wild kingdom, easy driving distance from Chicago and Madison. 45 minutes to Taliesin, 10 minutes to the Wisconsin River, epic bike rides out the front door.

The space
Open plan main floor, with lots of room to lounge, eat, and spread out.

There are three bedrooms on the lower/garden level: They are tiny but mighty, and they stay cool year round. With beadboard ceilings, they have a bit of a ship's-cabin feel that makes for a really good night's sleep!

The "Hello Deer" bedroom has a queen bed and dresser; "Bunk Room" has 3 single bunks (two bunks + a trundle bed you can pull out for a 3rd bed); "Enchanted Forest" has a built-in double bed and dresser.

Then, there's a fourth "bedroom" in the upstairs "Loft" with a platform double bed, accessed by a pull-down ladder - the best room in the house!

Attached deck and two separate patios - plus a fire pit a short walk from the house, following the path along the stream - provide lots of outdoor space that you'll have all to yourself.

We redid the galley kitchen in 2021! and I couldn't really love it more. We hope you love it too, in all its tiny efficiency and loveliness. It's equipped with dishes and silverware, pots and pans, coffee maker, new microwave and fridge, toaster oven (note it is NOT a full-sized oven), and stove top. There is no dishwasher, but take a deep breath, and you will be fine! We make sure the soap smells nice so washing dishes becomes a spa-like experience :)

In non-covid times, we provide staple kitchen ingredients: during the pandemic, you'll have to bring all your own foodstuffs!

LOTS of board games and books, and a decent collection of DVDs (lots of Westerns:))

Fusbol table; bocce and croquet for outside.

Fire pit!

Binoculars and telescopes, and field guides for birds, trees, flowers, animal tracks

All organic cotton sheets with organic cotton/hypoallergenic pillows. Washcloths/towels and extra blankets also provided. Also, toilet paper is provided :)

There is only one bathroom! So liking your fellow guests is a prerequisite :)

Where you’ll be

Boscobel, Wisconsin, United States

Tons to do and see in the Driftless area:
- beautiful rolling hills (we often feel like we're about to drive onto the label of an apple cider bottle...)
- organic farms
- huge, dark skies for stargazing
- excellent birdwatching (you don't even need to get off the couch - and you can use our binoculars and field guides)
- some of the best motorcycling and road biking in the midwest (real hills!) -
- cheese curds!
- charming small towns a beautiful drive away - Boscobel (Saturday farmers market/movie theater!), Viroqua (Driftless Cafe - an amazing farm to table restaurant/bookstores/theater/Amazing Food Co-op, Gays Mills (cute food coop!; monastery with french restaurant; Apple Fest! Driftless Art Festival; Old Oak Inn), Spring Green (Taliesin! American Players Theater! House on the Rock!) and many more.
- antiquing and flea markets
- hiking
- canoeing the Wisconsin or Kickapoo Rivers
- apple orchards (and u-pick strawberries in the spring)
- lots of local festivals
- new taproom at Driftless Brewing one town over (now open! although only on weekends)

and if all of that sounds like a lot of running around - you can just relax on the deck or next to the woodstove or on one of two patios with a good book!

we usually live in Chicago in a big old four-flat on a beautiful park that we share with our family members. One day we hope to live full time in our cabin in the woods: Until that day, we love sharing it with other people who love being there.
