Location

Royston, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

Chrishall is a rural village of about 520 people. There is a small villlage school, a church on the outskirts of the village and of course the pub.
The villagers are as friendly as the pub is, so expect anyone to strike up a converation with you.
The Icknield Way ancient walking route passes right by the pub so there are plenty of country walks for ramblers.
We are just 10 minutes drive from Duxford Imperial War Museum, 11 miles form Cambridge and a 45 minute train ride from Liverpool street or Kings Cross Stations in London.
There are also many golf courses close by, the English Heritage property of Audley End andthe National Trust property of Wimpole Hall.
The pretty market town of Saffron Walden is a 15 minute drive to the east.
As the highest point in Essex, we also have plenty of cyclists enjoying the hills into and out of the village.
Surrounded by beautiful open countryside and farmland, the wildlife can be spectacular wih owls, hawks, buzzards and red kites a plenty. In the summer watch the swallows and swifts enjoy swooping and playing on the warm air. You're also likely to spot three types of deer, badgers, hares, pheasants and partridges.
The silence at night is beautifual as is the lack of artificial ligt which allows some spectacular star gazing.
