PLEASE READ ALL INFO BEFORE BOOKING! Master bedroom with en suite sink, vanity, & kitchenette hidden within lovely Kinnear Park. Mere blocks from Key Arena & Space Needle. Under a mile to cruise ship terminal 91. Short ride to Pike Place, stadiums, & convention center.
I get asked the same questions multiple times per day, so this very detailed listing answers all the usual questions (and even some unusual ones). Obviously, it's not possible to conform my place to cater to each individual's unique expectations, especially when those expectations are never communicated to me, so the best way to ensure a good experience for everyone involved is to read through everything to see whether my place is a good fit for your needs, and then let me know if you still have unanswered questions.
IMPORTANT BASIC INFO:
*Prices are FIRM. I follow Airbnb's recommendations, which are based on location, amenities, and seasonal demand. The calendar is always up to date - simply enter your travel dates into the calendar to check pricing and availability.
*I am unable to accommodate anyone under 21 years old (even when accompanied by an adult) or parties larger than 2 people. Absolutely no exceptions.
*If you are attempting to book for a friend, family member, co-worker, etc. but will not be staying with them, the guest will need to create their own account and make their own reservation. For third party business travel bookings, you must have a verified business travel booking account with Airbnb.
*Guests MUST have a phone or tablet that works in the US!! This is because my building cannot be found using GPS, so we need to have the ability to easily reach each other in case you have any problems.
*This is a 2 bedroom apartment, and I live here. Either I, my boyfriend, or both of us will be present during your stay; he is usually only here on weekends. The guest room is completely separate from our part of the apartment, down a private hallway.
*I have 2 cats, and their litter box is in the only bathroom. It is cleaned out multiple times every day. The cats usually don't enter the guest room - they can't get in there unless you let them in. However, if you have severe allergies or would rather die than ever lay eyes on a litter box, then my place is probably not for you. Seriously - If it would upset you to encounter even the smallest shred of evidence that cats are in fact living here despite repeated warnings that this is the case, I highly recommend booking a cat-free property instead. As with most domesticated animals, even the sweetest, most well-behaved cats may become ill, have an accident, or otherwise behave somewhat unpredictably. I expect potential guests to be reasonable adults who possess enough self-awareness to honestly assess their own level of tolerance for such possibilities, and who will take that into consideration when deciding where to stay.
*The living room and kitchen are off limits to guests, at the request of my landlord and the extremely sensitive neighbor whose apartment is directly underneath those rooms (as you can see, there are no photos of the kitchen or living room; this is why). Please note that the guest room is NOT over the neighbor's apartment, so you don't need to be concerned about disturbing her in there.
*During the week, the check-in window is between 4pm - 9pm due to my work schedule. However, for last minute/same day reservations, please send an inquiry instead of using Instant Book because I may not be able to accommodate your desired check-in time with less than 24 hours' notice, particularly on weekdays. On weekends I have more flexibility on the earlier end, but prefer not to do check-ins past 9pm. Absolutely no check-ins past 10pm, please. Check-out is at or before 12pm.
*My listing is priced with all of the above quirks and imperfections in mind, which is why such a large and very private room is far less expensive than much smaller and/or less private rooms offered in the immediate area.
If you're still interested, please read on for details on what is provided (and what isn't), parking, transportation, house rules, etc.
The guest room is large, private, and has lots of personality! It's approx 250 sq ft, completely separate from the rest of the apartment, and includes a full size bed, kitchenette, vanity area with sink, and two closets that are exclusively for your use. You'll have pretty much everything you need: hangers, shelves, organizers, extra sheets/towels, first aid kit, umbrella, hairdryer, and iron/ironing board. There's no AC, but an oscillating fan is provided. For heat, there is a radiator at your control inside the room. On-site laundry is located just outside my front door and only takes quarters; it's $1.50 to wash and $1.25 to dry. Guests are responsible for their own quarters and detergent.
BATHROOM: The guest room has a private sink and vanity, but **no private toilet or shower.** As previously mentioned, there is only one full bathroom in the apartment, so obviously it is a shared space and it is also where the cats' litter box is located. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided in the corner of the shower.
KITCHENETTE: The kitchenette includes a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, hot plate, and electric kettle. Please note that the coffee maker, toaster oven, and hot plate are all part of one compact unit (see photos); they are NOT full sized appliances, and are only capable of heating small things. They are not adequate for preparing a large meal from scratch.
PARKING: My building does not have parking, but most street parking in the immediate area is free and does not require a permit. While it is usually not a problem to find something within a block or two, obviously I can't guarantee it.
BREAKFAST: I provide light snacks and drinks, usually to include fresh fruit, instant oatmeal, cereal bars, microwave popcorn, water, soda, and even a local beer for you to try if you're into that. I also supply tea and freshly ground Fonte coffee, which is roasted by my boyfriend. The Four Seasons downtown supplies the exact same coffee for their guests, so you know it's good stuff. :)
ENTERTAINMENT: As you can see in the photos, there is no TV in the guest room, because adding a TV to the room is impractical for a number of reasons (otherwise I would have one in there). However, I've got super high-speed wifi for streaming tv, music, or movies on your own device, and there are some books and magazines on the shelves. There is also a newly-renovated and resurfaced tennis court located right out back in the park, so bring your racquet!
TRAVELERS W/ PETS: I can welcome dogs only, on a case-by-case basis. No more than one, please. Must be house-trained, not prone to barking, and preferably not a shedder. Please discuss with me prior to booking if you'd like to bring your dog. There's an off-leash area in the park just out back that's really nice, and lots of great trails for walks and hikes.
As previously mentioned, there is no kitchen or living room access. Feel free to enjoy the deck, though, preferably when I'm not sleeping or changing (you can see directly into my room from there, and it's kinda awkward). If I'm not home at all, or I'm in the kitchen/living room, those are ideal times to use the deck. Most days I'm gone for at least 8-10 hours. You can also find breathtaking views from the park in which my building is located. There is a staircase directly behind the building that leads to the upper level of the park, which has even better views than my deck.
Interaction with guests
I am extremely respectful of privacy and appreciate the same. However, I'm always available to answer questions or provide assistance. When I'm not home, I respond quickly to text or Airbnb messages. There is a notebook in the guest room containing all of my neighborhood bar and restaurant recommendations, which are also pinned on the "Guidebook" map linked within this listing.
Other things to note
I have two cats, Tori Spelling and Denzel. They are super friendly - Denzel in particular is a total attention whore, and a chatty one at that. If you prefer not to interact with them, just keep the door to your room shut. But since their litter box is in the only bathroom you may run into them at some point, and I can't guarantee a 100% dander-free environment.
Also, please note that this building was constructed in 1943. I am a tidy person and also employ a cleaning service, but quirks and imperfections are to be expected, as with any older building. Further, because I live in the apartment and must share the bathroom with guests, and because I am a pet owner, please manage your expectations accordingly. Meaning, I do everything I possibly can within reason (and then some) to maintain an aesthetically pleasing, hygienic, and restful environment for guests, but this is a home first and foremost. So, people expecting super-immaculate hotel-like perfection 24/7 - especially at this price point - might be better off elsewhere. Thank you for understanding! :)
- Absolutely no guests under 21, even with an adult.
- Must be able to communicate in English. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it has to be enough that you can understand the house rules, and more importantly that you can follow my directions to the building and/or help me find you if you get lost. My address *does not work* in online maps or GPS.
- Must have a phone or tablet that works in the US for the same reason as above.
- Check-in is between 4pm-9pm. Check-out is at or before 12pm.
- The kitchen and living room are off limits.
- Must be ok with cats. I have 2, and their litter box is in the only bathroom. They do not enter the guest room unless you let them in.
- Please be mindful of your noise level.
- No parties or unregistered guests, please. This means that unless you booked the room for 2 people, no, you cannot bring a friend over to hang out.
- ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING! Not even on the deck, because it blows right back into my room. Very sorry. Outside the front door is ok.
- Please turn off the lights when you are not actively using them.
- Please do not use my towels to remove makeup. There is a box of tissues in the private vanity area.
- If you intend to bring a pet, please discuss with me prior to booking. Dogs only, please.
I'm 39 years old and on my second career, having graduated from law school in 2015. As an Air Force brat, I've lived all over the country, and have been a Seattleite for almost 7 years. I was born (and mostly raised) in southeastern Virginia, so I'm really a southern girl at heart, but I worked in the film/television industry in Los Angeles for 10 years prior to moving to Seattle. For me, the "finer things in life" are good food, good booze, good music, and good friends! I love dive bars, Seattle weather (not sure why it's got such a bad rap), and my 2 cats: Tori Spelling & Denzel. Even people who say they hate cats love my cats! They're pretty hilarious.
I've lived a lot of places, but Seattle is my favorite place so far. My neighborhood is THE BEST!
