The Hoppy Annexe is a self-contained space, set in a little garden on a peaceful road with free parking, a 15 minute walk down the hill to Henley town centre. It is suitable for either a single person or a couple - there's a standard sized double bed, ensuite bathroom with shower and a small kitchenette.

Beautiful countryside walking routes are just a minutes away and Henley town centre, with its shops, cafes, restaurants and river front is within easy reach.

The space
On arrival at the address, you can knock on the door of the main house - we will be there to greet you and show you to your accommodation. The Hoppy Annexe has private access through a garden gate. Once you are settled, you can come and go as you please.

We will provide you with tea & coffee facilities and some milk for the fridge (let us know if you need a particular type - the convenience store stocks all kinds, including vegan). There are always some cereals in the cupboard, and we also provide a few other little extras to make you feel at home.

The kitchenette conists of a sink, a toaster & kettle, a microwave, a small fridge-freezer and a washer/dryer. There is a washing line in the garden which you may use if you prefer to dry laundry outside on sunny days. If you prefer not to do your own washing, the laundrette just around the corner does a service wash.

There is a portable air conditioner available in case of a heatwave (they sometimes happen), and underfloor heating in the tiled floor keeps the Annexe cosy in the colder months.

There are plenty of linens and towels in the drawers under the bed, and we've provided a variety of pillows. There is a TV, free wifi and there are USB charge points behind the bedside cabinets for you to charge your phone. If you'd like to spend an evening chilling, the TV has Freeview channels and we also have a Roku streaming device, so you can log onto your Netflix or Prime account. Alternatively, there's a DVD player with a small library of both popular and obscure titles, and a few books about the local area.

The Hoppy Annexe is located in a very convenient place - there's a local grocery store, two takeaways, laundrette, gents' barber and bus stop to town just 1 minute away, if that. 10 minutes's walk away, you'll find the local leisure centre with swimming pool.

Henley is popular with tourists as it is known for the annual Henley Royal Regatta, as well as several high profile festivals including the gorgeous black-tie Henley Festival, 80s Rewind Festival and superb Henley Literary Festival, when authors and celebrities decend upon Henley for talks in a variety of intimate venues.

Henley is a lovely place to visit outside of festival times as well - it's popular for river walks, antique hunting and art galleries. It is also home to the River and Rowing Museum set in the picturesque Mill Meadows park, which hosts interesting and varied exhibitions. We have our own 3-screen Cinema, the Regal - just behind Waitrose and one of the oldest theatres in the UK, the Kenton.

Henley town centre is easy to reach by walking down the hill or taking the bus (there is a weekday hourly service). There you will find a large number of cafes including all the big names you can find in any town, but we recommend one our many independents, such as Hot Gossip, Drifters, Chocolate Cafe or Buendia, which are the first choice with many of the locals.

Very recently, the Harrod's branded 'H Cafe' opened in Market Place - this is the first cafe that Harrod's has opened outside of its iconic Knightsbridge store. It includes a small Harrod's gift shop and a click & collect facility upstairs.

For beer lovers, you can take part in the Henley Ale Trail which takes you round the Brakspear's pubs. Locally brewed beers as well as locally produced wine and food can be found at brand new local delicatessen 'The Henley Larder' on Bell Street

Henley has a number of excellent restaurants, including newcomers Crockers, Shellfish Cow, The Dub and The Henley Tavern in Henley Town Centre.

We would also highly recommend hiking or cycling (or taking a cab if the weather is rough) to one of our many lovely pubs in the countryside for a pub lunch. Favrourites include The Maltster's Arms, The Baskerville and The Crooked Billet.

I live in Henley with my husband, Glen our two teenage children and a cat. I do freelance work in graphics and web design, Glen is a software consultant. We love to travel to see new places and to visit our friends in the USA. We usually stay in Airbnb accommodation - please see our reviews to find out where we've been! We've stayed in some delightful places and picked up some ideas from our Airbnb stays, and we've tried to replicate what works well in our own Annexe.
