The space
Situated at a lower altitude on the mountain, Springbrook Log Cabin Retreat enjoys a unique, temperate climate all year round. The property is only @ 30 minutes drive to Nerang or Mudgeeraba to shop, dine out or visit the many and varied Gold Coast attractions.
For guest staying for a longer period (a week or more), the BnB has lots of brochures on other National Parks close by as well as attractions in Northern NSW - a very scenic back road will take you via Numimbah to the beautiful Tweed Valley.
Or, if you prefer to visit the abundance of beaches at the Southern end of the Gold Coast or places like Kingscliff, Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay in Northern NSW, the Motorway is only 30minutes away.
The Springbrook Log Cabin Retreat also offers Respite for people and their carers - this includes chronic illness, people with a disability and people recovering from illness or surgery.
Susie's former career was as a Registered Nurse and she is happy to assist where needed. There are wheelchair ramps into the BnB and grip bars in the shower and toilet areas.

Location

Springbrook, Queensland, Australia

Springbrook National Park is World Heritage listed and for good reason. This is a very special and unique area of sub tropical vegetation. Fortunately, there is a strong community and government focus on preserving what is here. Consequently, there are only around 600 dwellings on Springbrook Mountain. There are no supermarkets, petrol stations or other markers of a typical Gold Coast suburb. There are however a variety of cafes, run by locals; a Primary School; a fabulous observatory for visitors who want to star gaze; a wonderful local craft shop; a gem and crystal shop; a fudge and coffee shop that is very difficult to drive past and our very old and beautiful Town Hall. Covered in murals, painted by local artists, this hall is in many ways, the main hub of Springbrook. Many meetings and gatherings take place here and even the occasional wedding.
There is a Visitors Information Centre which provides maps and advice to tourists. A National Parks Office is located near the camping ground and their Rangers help maintain and protect the walking trails, the vegetation and the wild life of Springbrook Mountain. There is a public camping ground. To help support our community and visitors to Springbrook, there is a range of volunteer services including the SES, Bush Fire Brigade and Ambulance group.

I am a warm, hospitable person who loves living in nature. I moved to Springbrook Mountain in 2017 and am loving this unique environment. I enjoy bush walking and have made many friends here through various shared interests. I grew up in Northern NSW; then lived for many years in Sydney where I did my training to become a registered nurse; I travelled for a while, then spend a few years out in Western QLD. Here, I combined my Nursing work with training to become a Jillaroo - working with sheep and cattle - a lot of time learning how to stay on a fast moving horse. I returned to the Gold Coast area in the 1990's where I continued my Nursing career. I am also a trained Therapist/Counselor. I established Sharman's Therapy Centre in 2017 and continue to provide that service from my home. I am excited to now have the opportunity to share my beautiful property with guests from near and far. I enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds. Through my long Nursing career and my counselling work, I believe I communicate well and have a good understanding of people. I am respectful of someone's desire for privacy and have made sure this property caters for that. At the same time, I enjoy contact with others and can help plan your time here (if desired).

During your stay
Your host Susie, is available for questions and if desired, will help you plan your stay here. With her ready sense of humour and "can do" approach to life, her former Nursing career and counselling experience assists her to be understanding and sensitive to people's needs and cultural differences. This sensitivity enables her to be very respectful of a guest's need for space and privacy or for advice and practical solutions to any physical limitations. Susie loves where she lives and believes it is now time to share this magical place with others.
Your host is happy to host people returning to Australia and need a place to self-isolate. Springbrook Log Cabin Retreat is an ideal place to do this because, apart from Susie and a young man who lives and works in a shed on the property, there is no-one else around.
People can exercise - walk the grounds, do Yoga outside etc to maintain their fitness.
Susie is happy to do shopping for guests at one of the nearby shopping centres.
