The space
The open plan living space has its original flagstone floors, exposed ceiling beams and a cosy wood burning stove. A supply of firewood will be provided.

The cottage is located on a No Through Road and is accessed via a footpath. Very quiet and peaceful despite being just minutes walk from the town centre. Parking is on street, safe and only yards from the front door.

Other things to note
You will see from previous guest reviews that our cottage is described as spotlessly clean. Given the current Covid pandemic, we have undertaken to enhance our cleaning practices even further to give our guests further peace of mind. The cottage will be thoroughly cleaned when guests check out followed by complete sanitising before arriving guests check in. We have decided to keep a 2 night gap between guests to give us plenty of time to completely clean and sanitise. There will be hand sanitiser in the cottage which we would ask our guests to use before venturing out of the cottage and upon returning to the cottage.

Lechlade and the surrounding area has so much to offer visitors.
It is ideally located in the South of the Cotswolds. For the more active amongst us, there are plenty of walking trails of varying difficultly, as well as cycle routes.

Lechlade is on the bank of the Thames which provides plenty of other activities such as Boat hire which can be arranged from The Trout Inn which is only about a mile on the Faringdon Road. A little way down the river towards Buscot, you will find St Johns Lock which is the first lock on the Thames. Stay here a while and watch the boats navigate through the lock.

Lechlade is served by plenty of Pubs and Restaurants such as the Riverside which is located just beyond the famous Halfpenny Bridge. The local Fish & Chip shop is again just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. There are also Chinese and Indian restaurants as well as Cafe's.

If you're after a more leisurely holiday, there are grand open homes to visit such as Kelmscott Manor and Buscot House or you may choose to visit the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust for a spot of birdwatching or catching a glimpse of other wildlife.

For big and small children alike, The Cotswold Wildlife Park is just 6 miles along the road to Burford. This is a fantastic dayout for all the family and is a must see whilst you are in the area.

If fishing is your thing, the Lechlade Trout Fishery provides rod hire & river fishing. They are located on the edge of town on the Burford Road.

There is also a broad mix of shops in the town from the renowned Christmas Shop through to Antiques. Plumtree Cottage is just a couple of minutes walk from the local Londis where you will find all of the essentials that you will need during your stay. You will also find a Butcher and Grocer a couple of minutes away.

Other major centres which are within easy reach of Lechlade by car are Burford - 11 minutes, Cirencester (The Capital of the Cotswolds) - 25 minutes, Swindon - 30 minutes and Oxford - 40 minutes.

Sue (English) & Brad (Australian). We loved to travel before kids and a house came along. We don't get quite as far afield these days. Probably spent a small fortune on all sorts of different accomodation over the years. It's a shame that Airbnb wasn't around back then. We are big fans of places like Vienna, The Maldives and Greek Islands. We look forward to welcoming you to the Cotswolds.
