We Have Llamas!

The space

Llama Meadows welcomes all who wish to find the nurturing peace and solitude of nature, at a beautiful Organic Llama Farm in Benzie County.
Llama Meadows Farm is a sixteen acre organic (not certified) fruit and vegetable farm. Located in Beautiful Benzie Country, in Northwestern Lower Michigan. We are two miles south of Crystal Lake and seven miles east of Lake Michigan. Our-house is super insulated and passive solar. We raise llamas for their wool and manure. Some of the items we make out of the wool are slippers, mittens, hats and three dimensional art objects. The manure we use to fertilize with. We currently have 4 llamas, around 100 fruit trees. The fruit we grow includes apples, apricot, pears, figs and paw paws. We also grow grapes, blackberries, raspberries and kiwis, we also put in filberts, walnuts and pecans. We have a beautiful labyrinth peace garden, with over 1200 perennials in and around it.

Guest access

The space is a studio apartment above the garage overlooking organic gardens, orchard, labyrinth and llamas, in witch you can explore. Only two miles from Crystal Lake. 8 Miles to Lake Michigan.

Our experience at the Guest Studio was simply wonderful. The farm has a very nice feel to it and is a calm and relaxing place. Our family of four enjoyed many activities on the farm and in the Sleeping Dunes area. The hosts Betty and Marty are very warm and friendly. They have created a space that lives and breathes good vibes. :) They are also very kind and helpful. We had a flat tire warning and they offered us assistance - very nice! Their description of the apartment and the facilities is accurate and the studio apartment is clean and neat. This is a place we would definitely consider coming back to.

I was looking for a place close to Frankfort, Elberta, and Beulah and this place was so close to all three. It was a perfect place to stay.

My 2 young adult sons and I really enjoyed the guest apartment. Marty and Betty are very welcoming and the setting, on a small farm with some llamas, was delightful. We were able to prepare meals in the kitchen as well as eat out at the local restaurants. The area was more quite than other northern MI vacation spots we have visited.

Overall, our stay at this location was welcoming, peaceful, and relaxing. We only spent three nights, but left recharged after plenty of good sleep in a laid back farm environment. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the hosts, Betty and Marty. We received a personal tour of our studio, how things worked, and the farm itself. Betty stocked the refrigerator with a fresh salad she made from her garden's bounty, a nice bag of sweet peas, and some cool water. We received plenty of information about places to visit in the area, good places to eat, etc. Betty and Marty answered all of our questions, and were happy to introduce us to their llamas, show us their fruit trees and vegetable garden, etc. I can't underscore enough on how genuinely caring hosts they are. The studio was extremely clean and well stocked with towels, toiletries, and other necessities. The studio has lots of windows so we could bathe ourselves in natural light if we wanted to. There are two outdoor elevated sitting decks positioned such that one is always in the sun, while the other sits in the shade - your preference. Hardwood floors throughout keep things clean, clean, clean. And the beds are super comfortable. The location is really nice too - very close to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and the Leelanau Peninsula for a quiet and peaceful getaway, with Traverse City a short distance away if looking for something more developed. The air on the farm is crisp with little humidity so we never noticed the lack of A/C - between the windows and fans, things are cool inside. Their dog, Tassy-Bear, is a sweetheart. Betty and Marty also help run the local folk festival, Bliss Fest (URL HIDDEN) and shared many stories of the artists that have played over the years (Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, etc.) It really would have been nice to spend a few more days on the farm. We highly recommend a stay with Betty and Marty.

Betty is a saint. Marty is wonderful. My friends & I loved our stay at the llama farm. Betty checked in before we got there to assure we had everything we needed. Once on the farm, the beds were comfortable, the space was peaceful, and very clean! We got to partake in fresh garden food, meet the llamas, and share some time with this wonderful host family. If you are even sort of considering staying with Betty & Marty, DO IT! They are such kind wonderful light souls and they are very sweet. And you'll be greeted by TassieBear (their dog) every time you come back to the property! I can't say enough great things about this place - BOOK IT NOW.
