About this listing

Our forest sanctuary cottage nestled on 40 acres in the heart of wine country is so peaceful and beautiful--and only fifteen minutes from Eugene! Originally built to house spiritual retreats, we invite you to come experience its special serenity.

The space

Imagine having the best of both worlds on your next Oregon outing…in the heart of Oregon’s wine country—so peaceful and away from it all, yet only fifteen minutes from Eugene! Our forest sanctuary cottage is nestled on 40 acres of woodlands and meadows, with over a dozen premiere wineries nearby, (many of them within 10 to 15 minutes) and the city just minutes away.

Take a wine tour, check out Eugene’s shops and restaurants or spend the afternoon at Saturday Market, enjoy local hikes with expansive views or a gentle walk alongside the Willamette, rejuvenate yourself at a local day spa, take a drive to the Oregon coast (1.5 hour), or along the scenic McKenzie River (40 minutes), cheer the Ducks at a UO game, revel at the annual Oregon Country Fair (25 minutes), hear world-class concerts at Eugene’s Oregon Bach Festival (mid-June to mid-July) and Hult Performing Arts Center, or bicycle your way along rolling hills and pastures on the area’s most popular cycling route, Lorane Highway.

Or simply settle into the quiet beauty and comforts of your own personal sanctuary. Originally built for spiritual retreats, our forest sanctuary cottage has a unique round design that's very spacious with expansive windows, 15-foot ceilings, large circular skylight and lovely bamboo floors. It's beautifully decorated throughout and features a bedroom with king size bed, four double-size futons that convert to beds as needed; a well-equipped kitchenette with fridge, two-burner gas stove, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and electric kettle with complimentary coffee and tea; a living area with TV (local channels in HD), DVD and a Bose music system to plug-in your music player; full bathroom with shower; your own private deck overlooking the forest and two tree swings and a hammock to lounge in. Or even get a massage with local massage therapist, Jacob Camara (visit (URL HIDDEN) - sessions take place in the cottage) for a special relaxing treat!

Outside you can explore nature trails throughout our 40 acres of forest and meadows. Watch deer and wild turkeys grazing right outside your window and say hello to the other abundant wildlife that roams the land.

Also we're kid and dog-friendly. A $25 fee applies for each dog, which we collect when you arrive. Sorry, no cats. Since we take extra care to clean up really well after guests with dogs, we've never had any issues with anyone with allergies.

We hope you’ll choose to stay with us on your next visit to Eugene and the Willamette Valley. Our goal is to do whatever we can to make your stay comfy, peaceful and truly renewing!

Interaction with guests

We want our guests to have the peace and quiet they deserve, but should you need anything, please just give Roger (the property manager for April through July) a call or a text at (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) anytime :) We're very happy to show you around when you arrive, or during your stay with us.

Other things to note

Our goal is to provide you with a truly beautiful place for a really affordable price. We keep the same affordable rate year-round and keep our refundable deposit low. Local and state room taxes are included in our rates.

A welcome break from the ordinary. Secluded in the country, yet just a short drive to civilization...and wineries! Gracious hosts with great communication. Thank you!

Lovely place, just as described. Truly provided a sanctuary during our visit to Oregon. I enjoyed waking up and relaxing in the light, airy, open space each morning. The skylight is a fabulous addition, but use an eye mask if you want to sleep late. And as they mention, definitely plan for time between showers. The grounds are beautiful and the kids loved playing outside. If I am ever in Eugene again, I would like to stay here.

We enjoyed our stay at the forest sanctuary so very much. The hosts were incredibly accommodating, and the setting is peaceful and beautiful. Our children loved being able to play outside in the yard and on the swings.

The yurt was fun, peaceful and has a piano. A true sanctuary. We loved the hikes around the property. Some trails were grown over, watch for poison oak, or just stay on mowed trails. Friendly neighbors next to yurt.

The house was beautiful and relaxing, albeit a bit dusty. We happened to be there on a 100 degree weekend. The house was nice and cold on the inside thanks to the a/c! There was a little problem that occurred and the owners and manager were super responsive and quick to apologize. The path is great, just a little tough to navigate. All in all, we had a great weekend the sanctuary, it was relaxing, beautiful scenery without having to leave and we saw several deer right in the backyard.!

Aaron, Bruce And Theresa User Profile

Hello, I'm Aaron and this is my father Bruce and his wife Theresa. We’ve been blessed to live almost ten years at this beautiful place and enjoy sharing it with family, friends and guests. Bruce is a retired electrical contractor who now focuses on taking care of our large property. Theresa is a professional musician who plays clarinet, piano, and celtic harp and I'm currently pursuing graduate studies in family counseling on a career track to become a family counselor. We love living in Eugene area - especially out in the country, while also being close to Eugene and everything it offers. We have also held occasional retreats on our land and feel a great sense of purpose in making it a sanctuary for all who visit here.
