Where you’ll be

Candás, Principado de Asturias, Spain

The town of Candás, is the capital of the Asturian council of Carreño. On the banks of the Bay of Biscay, this small fishing village offers fish and seafood of high quality. And, as is typical of Asturias, the portions are generous. If you are looking for something to eat in Candás we recommend the bonito and spider crab. They are the main elements of stews and grills, accompanied by other typical Asturian products. Enjoy succulent recipes at the Gastronomic Days of Bonito and degustate it in all its forms: marmitaco, cake, with rice or pepper.

If your hobby is seafood you can also drop by the Gastronomic Days of the Crab, which take place in one of the restaurants in this seaside town.

Like any good Asturian town, desserts are a must eat in Candás. In addition to the classic rice with milk, savor the candés dessert par excellence, the marañuelas. These sweets, similar to cookies, have a simple elaboration based on cooked lard. It is a must-have souvenir for all visitors. Do not hesitate to visit the most northerly cape of the Principality, the Cabo de Peñas, whose ancestral lighthouse has guided sailors from Spain and the world for almost two centuries.
