About this listing
Our lovely, bright courtyard apartment in the Latin Quarter is just a block from the the Jardin du Luxembourg and the RER B (Luxembourg station). The neighborhood is walking distance to many of the sights of Paris, but residential, not touristy.
Though the apartment is compact (47m2), it is incredibly efficient, like a sailboat. Our family of 4 has lived here happily for two years in a row, with its 2 bedrooms and 2 baths (1 full, 1 shower, 1 toilet). The only sound we usually here are the birds in the courtyard -- yet we are in the middle of the Latin Quarter, steps from the most beautiful sights of Paris. There are excellent cafés and restaurants, and food shopping, all by foot. There is also a Velib and Autolib station on the block, the RER B is half a block away, and there are many bus lines as well. We love the apartment, and rent it out when we cannot be here. Note that it is a 3rd floor French (4th floor American) walk-up. (On the other hand, the grocery stores deliver.)
Interaction with guests
We will not be in Paris during your rental.
This is a quiet building, and voices carry across the courtyard. We therefore ask for guests to be considerate and quiet, so no parties, and shoes off please.

I teach at UC Berkeley, but also spend a lot of time in Paris when not in Berkeley, for personal and professional reasons. We live in this apartment when not renting it out, and though compact, it has been a great home for our family of four, for 2 consecutive years of living in Paris, and many stays of several months. The neighborhood is perfectly Parisian: old and beautiful, with close neighbors and friendly cafés and shops, catering to the people who live here permanently, rather than tourists -- and even though we are a stone's throw from some of the most popular tourist attractions (Luxembourg, Pantheon, Catacombs; and walking distance to Notre Dame, Pompidou, Louvre, Orsay . . walks we take all the time).
Note: we have successfully rented our apartment since 2007 through other agencies but are now also posting on Airbnb. We have rented our Berkeley house this way as well.
