Ria was a marvelous host and made us feel very much at home. She was happy to answer our questions and give us information when we needed it. The house itself was great. The steps to the bedrooms upstairs looked a bit daunting at first, but proved to be no problem, even for us senior citizens. The kitchen was well equipped, bright and cheerful, the beds very comfortable, and the whole place was clean and ready for us to move in. The garden was charming and a very pleasant and private place to sit on a sunny afternoon.
The location of the house couldn't have been better. It's in a pleasant, quiet neighborhood by the river Ijssel, just a few yards from one of the many Ijssel ferries. The main central shopping area is a 15 minute walk away and has a great variety of shops and supermarkets even though Dieren is not a big town.
From the house you can bike or walk in lovely rural countryside on either side of the river or go to the beautiful Veluwezoom forest with its paths and trails. We have been in Dieren and the area before, but having this new center for our cycling excursions gave us a whole new perspective to which we hope to return in the future. By the way, if you have no bicycle of your own along, Ria has two in the shed for you, or you can rent marvelous Gazelle bicycles very cheaply from a shop another 15 minute walk away.
