A bright single room in a comfortable flat in Glasgow's bohemian West End, located in a quiet, leafy street. Convenient for transport, with easy access to the city and to the local bars, cafes, galleries, theatres... Beautiful communal gardens!
My bright, comfortable flat has many lovely traditional features: high, ornate ceilings, large lounge with bay window and stained glass panels. There's also a small flower-filled front garden, and beautiful communal gardens right opposite, open to visitors to use. The listing is for a single room for one person.
You'll be sharing bathroom and kitchen facilities with me, and have access to the communal lounge. You're welcome to help yourself to basic foodstuffs: coffee, tea, milk, bread, cereal, etc, and to cook if you'd like to: there's a microwave if you need to eat and run, but feel free to eat at the dining table in the bright bay window in the lounge. Or if it's sunny (fingers crossed) take a coffee and a book out on to the front porch, or over to the leafy gardens right opposite the flat - you can even borrow the BBQ from the back garden if you want to take it over and have a picnic. There's also free wireless broadband, TV with freeview channels, dvd player, etc in the lounge, and a dvd player in the bedroom.
Interaction with guests
I'll be here throughout your stay, and will be there to welcome you with keys, etc and I'm happy to help out with advice on getting around and on other things to see and do in our fantastic city. I've been an Airbnb guest myself and I know people have different preferences, so you're welcome to join me in the living room - but you don't need to be sociable if you don't want to... I'm a writer, so there will be times when I'm closeted with the laptop, but I'll always be happy to help with any questions you might have.
Other things to note
There's one other resident in the flat: a large, fat, friendly cat who spends most of his day asleep, and who will happily colonise your lap if you let him.
No smoking (though if you're desperate for a puff, you could nip over to the gardens). No pets - above cat would not take kindly to interlopers. If you're coming back late at night, try to keep it as quiet as possible. And generally, please wash up your dishes and keep the space (relatively) tidy.
I'm an actor and writer, based in Scotland, but work wherever they'll pay me. I spend time in Spain when I can. I've been an Airbnb guest a couple of times - in Sydney and Spain - and have really enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to welcoming guests to my own flat in Glasgow. As a host I'm pretty easy-going, and I'm happy to chat with you or leave you to your own devices, whatever you prefer. Like most Glaswegians, I'm proud of our fantastic city and I'll be happy to advise on things to see and do during your stay, and to point you in the direction of the best bars and restaurants.
I like good fiction, favourite authors: Steinbeck, Iain McEwan, Iain Banks, Louise Welsh, Maggie O'Farrell; I love some of the brilliant US drama around at the moment especially Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Dexter, The Wire, plus I'm addicted to The Big Bang Theory.
The other resident in the flat, a large, fat cat called Chico, is also welcoming to guests - he will co-opt you as a new and comfortable cushion if you allow him to. NB You are not required to allow him to :-)
