This 2 bedroom "Daufuskie Escape" cottage has just had an extreme make-over, and what a success! The owners have provided a beautiful re-do, and the results are drop-dead beautiful! (Our favorite is the swing bed on the front porch!) And it's a great location with just a 2 minute walk to the beach AND to the Melrose Beach Club Restaurant and pool (fees apply). As with all Daufuskie Rental Group properties, you'll have onsite 24/7 assistance and all the help you'll need for your trip logistics.

The signature feature of the Daufuskie Escape Cottage is the huge wrap-around screened porch with the front porch providing a view of the ocean, a swing bed, and a dining area. You will especially LOVE the swing bed! What could be more relaxing? And we suspect more than one guest will decide to sleep overnight out here!

Walk around the porch to the back and find your gas grill...and another porch with a smaller dining room area and a lovely seating area perfect for diving into your beach book.

This cottage really does have it all! Although a second row property, the cottage's location ensures a very nice view of the ocean from the front, and a big beautiful backyard for family games and for viewing Daufuskie's wildlife. And don't forget the hammock for a great place to take that afternoon snooze...

The cottage is also lovely inside! Peaceful beachy colors set the mood for each room, complimented by coastal artwork (including some from our own Ironfish Art Gallery!). The living/dining/kitchen area was designed with relaxation and socialization in mind. The kitchen is fully equipped and perfect for cooking family meals. The cook will enjoy the company of other guests who choose to perch around the L-shape bar encircling the kitchen. The living room's seating area is comfy and well-suited for either social chats or for watching the flatscreen Smart TV. The fireplace works and is perfect for chilly evenings.

The two spacious bedrooms (two queen size beds in one bedroom; a queen and king in the other) showcase unique artwork, quality bedding, pillows, and brand new mattresses. And of course each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom.

A washer and dryer is available in the cottage for our guests.

The location couldn't be better! After just a two minute walk, you can be at the beach, the Beach Club Restaurant, or the Melrose pool. Although the resort is closed, the Equestrian Center is now being run by another group, and beach rides are available for our equine enthusiasts.

Because this beautiful cottage has just been listed, the calendar is wide open...but that won't last long! Make your reservation today for the incomparable Daufuskie Escape Cottage.

Island Locations of Special Interest

There are many interesting places to visit on Daufuskie, including the locations described below. All of these places will be marked on a map found in your arrival welcome packet.

Opened in early 2015, the Daufuskie Rum Company (270 Haig Point Road) is a micro-distillery that makes authentic, American made hand-crafted rum. To schedule a tour call (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Distillery and store hours are 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Wednesday - Saturday.

The Iron Fish Art Gallery (tel: (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)) is always open, even if its resident artist, Chase Allen, is not present. Chase has been featured in numerous Southern and Coastal Living publications and recently won a national “American Made” contest sponsored by the Martha Stewart magazine. Lots of interesting things to see here, and visitors enjoy exploring his art work on both the front porch and in an outdoor gallery area. Love honey? Chase has his own bee hives, and you can buy jars of freshly-made honey.

The historic Jane Hamilton School, formerly used as the school for children living on the north end of the island, has been restored by the Daufuskie Historical Foundation and is currently home to the Gullah Learning Center and the Daufuskie Island Community Library. It also serves as the polling location for Daufuskie's elections precinct.

2. Located next door is the Billie Burn Museum, which was formerly the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. The museum contains a fascinating collection of island artifacts and historical documents and also offers some distinctive gift items.
