The Old Nurses Residence Guest House is centrally located in Downtown Fernie and is one of Fernie's Premier heritage homes and has operated (>30 years). Enjoy a great experience on our large veranda. The Buttercup Room is a large Heritage style room with its own on suite bathroom and queen size bed on the 2nd floor. Shared kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry on 1st floor.

The Buttercup Room is a large Heritage style room with its own on suite bathroom and queen size bed. Ideal for one or two people. We provide you with a comfortable sleep on chiropractic mattresses. Sorry this is a Non smoking residence - Sorry no pets please - Adult Oriented

Covid-19: Each room has hot water heater so airflow is limited to the room. We also do extensive cleaning (most everything that people touch) . Each room has it's own bathroom. We recommend common areas outside be used in summer but you could need a sweater in the morning. The house is setup for continuous natural airflow in summer to help common areas.

Kitchen access available with full fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, pots and pans. Laundry access available to washer and dryer. We have fresh ground coffee or tea (self-serve) to greet your morning for your enjoyment with other guests in our common areas. With our central downtown location, we are only a few minutes walk for you to enjoy breakfast, lunch and supper in Fernie's many cafes and restaurants.

The Residence was used in 2012 Disney's Santa Paws 2 movie for the main characters family's home.

We purchased the Old Nurses Residence in Fernie to make a Bed and Breakfast in 1991. It was Fernie's only and original Nurses Residence from 1908 to 1988 and served as accommodation for Fernie's Health care workers. You might ask, how did we come up with the name. Well the community basically named it. Every person in Fernie we talked to referred to it as The Old Nurses Residence. So we thought well that's what the community calls our Guest house, so why not. From 1991 to 1993, when we opened we redecorated the B&B, stripping all the paint off the woodwork, wall papered, fixing bathrooms and purchased furnishing for the B&B. Some antiques we furnished the B&B with have dated to the 1750's. Yes, the beds are all new chiropractic mattresses, however some of the bed head boards date back to 1867 (Canada's confederation). We opened our doors in 1993 and were well accepted by the community and guests from countries all over the world. People come to Fernie in the winter to downhill ski, cross country ski, snowmobile or just enjoy a white Christmas. In the summer our guests bike, hike, fly fish, raft and generally enjoy the marvels of the Canadian Rockies. One unique thing about Fernie the summer is no flies to suck your blood. So outdoor recreation is quite pleasent. Your Hosts - Jo Anne and Patrick Burke Your Hosts are Jo Anne and Patrick Burke. Jo-Anne is a expert quilter that loves to quilt as much as she can. Patrick is a Computer Systems Analyst by trade, however grew up working on his parents tourist resort in North Western Ontario (Dryden/Kenora Lake of the Woods area). We moved to Fernie in 1988 and fell in love with the area. After completing our labour of love, we opened The Old Nurses Residence Bed and Breakfast in 1993. Here we are, 25 years later still enjoying it and welcoming guests, many who return year after year from around the world. (Note that breakfast in not included in this price )
