this is an outstanding space for silence seekers. very close to endless beaches, far enough to be in the quiet zone allday long...Santi is a superfriendly guy & sometimes somehow manages to respond even before you asked him :-) 100% recommended

Fantastic house, Santi was there on arrival and was very helpful, left us all the information we needed. Posting is super accurate. House has everything you could need, in a quiet area a short drive from Jose Ignacio. Perfect place for a relaxing getaway!

Santi's place, right outside the small enclave of Jose Ignacio, is completely magical - we had an excellent relaxing stay there for 3 nights. The place is really clean and modern, just like the pictures, and feels like a private slice of heaven. Our favorite was the hammock, and …

Santi is totally accessible, always available to clarify any doubts even before arrival and kind with guests. The place is exactly the same as it's shown in the pics. It's very quite, in the middle of the nature and close to the best places in Punta. I strong recommend staying th…

We enjoyed our stay at Tacheles with a few setbacks. The house is super cute, perfect for relaxing. It's obvious that its owner takes a lot of pride in its upkeep. However, we were unable to be checked in by Santi himself, which caused us some problems with the alarm and not unde…

Response from Santi:
I decided to answer this evaluation because if I didn´t, it would be like if I was approving what Anni said. First of all, it´s important for all guests and future guests to know that Tacheles is located in the José Ignacio area, surrounded by a lot of nature as it is located between the José Ignacio Lagoon, the Garzón Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, besides the fact of being a sparsely populated area, with only 300 habitants along the year. It´s really a privileged paradise we have in Uruguay. This is one of the reasons people love to come to this place once and once again: because you get totally unplugged from your daily routine, feeling connected with so much nature. It must be one of the few places in the world where you can go to the beach or search for a piece of land, and you´ll find no one near you for miles and miles. It´s the unique “Really? I´m the only one here?” kind of feeling. So of course you will get yourself with a lot of bugs and insects round here: the ugly ones (mosquitoes, flies, spiders, moths) as well as the prettiest ones (butterflies, ladybird beetles, bees, grasshoppers, dragonflies) Even small frogs attempting to enter Tacheles when it rains. I guess that to label whether one bug is on the ugly side or on the pretty side is arguably, but what I’m quite sure is that there were and there are no bed bugs in Tacheles. For sure. Not at all. I personally checked and inspected all the house mattress as well as the housekeeping lady did. Found nothing at all. Furthermore, I had slept in the house the previous weekend and my parents stayed there one night as well (the night before Anni arrived) and noticed nothing. Trust me: my parents (mostly my mother) would have noticed something immediately. She has that mom radar that detects everything, specially dust and uncleanliness. The day after Anni´s check out, I hosted an Argentinean couple with their two sons, who stayed in Tacheles for one whole week, and I had nothing more than complements and best comments for the house. (You can check this on the other popular site of book ing rooms and apartments if you search my place) And since Anni left, the only cleaning done was the regular cleaning to the house. Nevertheless, after the Argentinean family left, just in case, I coordinated fumigation, even though realizing it was pointless. When Anni texted me it really sounded strange, but of course, in case she was right I immediately offered to reimburse her the last night of her stay, the one she chose to leave the house. What she didn´t mentioned on her evaluation is that she left the day before but didn´t show up to make the corresponding check out (keys devolution and house verification) on the next day. Furthermore, she locked the house but left the keys inside (as you can lock Tacheles with no need of keys) So I had to contact a locksmith to solve this issue, having to dismantle and change the door lock, on the Friday before Easter Week, which is very hard and expensive to get on those dates here in Uruguay as Easter Week is when everybody religiously takes for vacation. She also left some of my personal belongings unattended, in the outside garden, totally exposed to the rain; and some parts of the house were left in totally disorder. So taking these events (and extra costs) into consideration, nevertheless the fact that the bites suffered weren´t from bed bugs, I decided to reimburse her the 50% of the cost of the night, because at the end, being justified or not, she had to move to another place in the last night of her honeymoon, and what I first of all take into consideration is that my guests must feel the most comfortable as possible. So if you are reading this answer, please feel totally confident that there are no bed bugs at my house Tacheles at all. And if you are not so comfortable with mosquitoes and spiders, frogs and grasshoppers, you should reconsider staying in José Ignacio and maybe choose from one of the many luxury and overrated options available in the Peninsula Area of Punta el Este.
