La Tour des Anges is a unique 2 bed, 2 bath home inside the medieval walls of an authentic and friendly wine-making village of Sablet, lovingly restored with taste and charm.
Set in a tranquil spot with beautiful views, but only steps from the amenities of the village, with comfortable furnishings and quality fittings, it's the perfect place to unwind.
A private walled garden offers the perfect spot to lounge and read or enjoy a glass of rosé.
Welcome to your home from home in Provence!

The space
La Tour des Anges (the Angels' Tower), a beautifully restored old stone house with thick walls (cool in summer, warm in winter), is built into the medieval ramparts of this ancient village (circa 13th-14th century AD). It's furnished with an eclectic mix of modern and vintage pieces, which we have sourced over the years at local antique and bric-à-brac markets, but has all the modern amenities you need.

Wi-fi and telephone with free calls to landlines worldwide are included (please see the house guide for details).

The beds are comfortable and you will find them already made up with the Egyptian cotton sheets and traditional Provençal bedspreads provided. There are two pillows per person. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed, the other has a queen which can be split into twin beds.
The first bedroom has an en-suite bathroom inside the medieval tower, with bath (shower over) - with views through the arrow slits from the tub! - wash basin and toilet. The second bedroom has a shower and wash basin, and the second toilet is separate. Towels and soaps are provided.

The living room is cosy with a comfy sofa, two cute upholstered chairs and lots of cushions. There's a reading lamp, 32" flat screen TV and DVD player, Chromecast for streaming your personal Netflix etc. and a wood burner for chilly evenings. The house is fully heated for winter stays (the wood burner is just for extra cosiness). There's a good collection of DVDs and books in both French and English. It has a window to the garden and another looking out over the vineyards and amazing sunsets.

The full kitchen has solid teak worktops, Bosch dishwasher and fridge with freezer compartment, Delonghi stainless steel dual fuel cooker (gas top, electric fan oven), extractor hood, microwave, filter coffee machine, toaster. There are wooden chopping boards, plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware, baking trays and cake tins, bread bin, a stick blender, a food processor, scales, colander and sieve as well as a good collection of pans, knives and other utensils. There's also a collection of classic cookery books in French and English.

We spent 6 months living at La Tour des Anges while we were renovating our own property, so it is properly set up for long stays, unlike many holiday lets - and as a former restaurateur and chef I have made sure the kitchen is properly equipped.
Our guests appreciate the little extras such as a picnic set, cold blocks, wine chiller, apron, shopping basket, umbrella, swimming towels, ping pong set (there is a public ping pong table in the village).
We can provide a high chair and a travel cot at no extra charge but these must be reserved in advance as we only have one of each!
There is a very detailed house guide which explains all the info for the house as well as restaurant recommendations and lots more.

Location

Sablet, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France

La Tour des Anges is just a minute or two's walk from all the facilities the village has to offer:
two bakeries, a fantastic general grocer, bank with cashpoint, butcher, pharmacy, post office, gift shop, wine tasting (and buying) boutique, tourist office, tobacconist / newsagent, two hairdressers, library, weekly market, medical centre, dentist
Two restaurants, a café-bar,
Children's playground, ping pong table, pétanque pitch
Wineries for tastings, fantastic walking, trail running or cycling routes through the vineyards and more...

Sablet itself is a haven, where you can appreciate the relaxed pace of life of rural France. It's an incredibly friendly (and not too touristy) authentic working wine-making village, where you can rub shoulders with the locals in the shops and cafés and it has its own small market on Fridays.
It's only a 10 minute drive to the nearest town where there is a lovely Provençal market. Sablet is also ideally located for discovering Provence: vineyards, lavender fields, pretty villages and breathtaking views. It has very easy access by road, rail and air and is only an hour or so's drive from the cities of Avignon, Aix, Marseille, Nîmes.
There are lovely walks straight from the village among the vineyards.
It's also great cycling country (Mont Ventoux is within easy reach, but there are flat routes on the old railway path too) - both for road and mountain bikes - as well as e-bikes.

We have lived in Sablet for over 15 years so we can provide a wealth of advice, info and recommendations about the best places for wine tastings, local restaurants, itineraries and activities (such as historical tours, yoga classes, cookery classes, museums and Roman sites), shopping, cycling and hiking routes, bike hire, river and lake swimming, rock climbing, horse riding. Please just ask!
