We stayed in one of the apartments in this huge country house. Meeting other guests and playing in the pool (our children and theirs) really added to the experience. The caretaker's son also played with our children - he was terrific. Recommended. If you are in the area, seek out restaurants in the countryside. We went to two and very much enjoyed the experience. There are also a lot of restaurants in nearby Umbertide.

A realy nice location where you can relax. High sense of hospitality. Don't hesitate to ask for dinner, it was very good!

This is a sympathetically converted large farmhouse and outbuildings, with a communal swimming pool and plenty of outdoor seating. We had the top floor of the main house, with 2 apartments linked together to provide comfortable accommodation for 5 adults in 3 bedrooms. It looked as if there 2 other apartments in the house, one on the ground and one on the first floor, a several other apartments in other buildings close by. What worked for us in particular was the combination of location and hospitality. The site is 10 minutes drive from Umbertide on the ridge line that runs SW from the town and has gorgeous views to the N and W. It's a genuinely peaceful location, depending of course on other guests! The hosts are Giorgio and his wife Elena. They could not have been more welcoming and generous, and we managed to communicate perfectly well enough in their basic English and our dreadful Italian. Giorgio and Elena run a small restaurant for residents, and provide a 4 course evening meal of local Umbrian style - not high cuisine, but fresh and honest local foods (and the best Tiramisu we've ever had). Giorgio also booked a table for us at his friend's restaurant in Umbertide one evening that was off the tourist trail, and frequented by locals - perfect! In sum, this is a delightful, rustic, family run business. It's not smart, but it's a great place to relax and enjoy rural Umbria, and the hosts are genuinely friendly.

Just spent a fantastic, relaxing week at Antico Casale. The apartment, pool and scenery were just beautiful. Georgio and his wife Eleni are clearly working very hard in their new venture and are very approachable and helpful. They even bought me a bouquet of flowers when they realised it was my birthday which was so thoughtful. A few things to note which might help future visitors.... The kitchen in the apartment is quite basically equipped (just a hob and microwave) so we had to be inventive when preparing and cooking food for a large family. I'm sure Georgio would have helped if we needed anything specific but we managed. The nearest town Umbertide is a 10 min drive away- not walkable. Umbertide centre is quite small and quiet but plenty of little cafe's and a small supermarket for essentials. Come here if you're looking for beautiful scenery, peace and quiet and a gorgeous base to explore stunning umbria

The swimmingpool is excellent and the view beautiful. The area is quiet as the situation is not close to any roads. The apartment however, is too small for five persons and also the equipment is not based on the max of five persons. The apartment is also vulnerable for noise of other apartments in the building. Nevertheless we have had an excellent time.

We were greeted by a young boy called Mattheu who showed us our apartment and was our general first point of contact for any of our needs while we were staying there. The property is situated on a hill about 7 minutes drive above Umbertide. It feels completely remote and the views are absolutely stunning. The apartment was spotlessly clean and the rooms were a good size. The kitchen was kitted out with all the basics and everything worked. The property is completely self-catering and nearest shops to buy food are in Umbertide but we drove into town every morning to have pastries and coffees in the little piazza. All in all a great stay with two children of 3yrs and 1yr. would love to go back if we were going self catering again.

Antico Casale is just as described, extremely beautiful and peaceful. Good, simple apartment in lovely grounds and with very nice pool. Easy access to Umbertide and surrounding villages and towns. Eduardo and family who look after the apartment were very friendly and helpful.
