The space
Upper Imeraval is a quaint , quirky recently modernised former crofters cottage on Islay, The Whisky Island , known as "Queen of the Hebrides".
It is idyllically situated on the outskirts of the picturesque, typically Hebridean village of Port Ellen, Isle of Islay, Argyll.

The cottage enjoys panoramic open country and partial sea and harbour views from the good sized grassed garden area m enclosed by a traditional drystone wall, equipped with good sized wooden picnic table, for the long, balmy summer days frequently enjoyed on Islay with it’s temperate micro climate.

Note :
recent housing developments in fields around cottage have restricted the seaward views .

The Island is fortuitously washed by the warm waters of the Gulf stream, evidenced by palm trees growing happily amongst the more traditional hardy Scottish plants .
The best chance of settled summer weather is traditionally experienced in the months from May to July, but the potent combination of sun and sea breezes will bring a healthy glow to even the palest complexion all year round.

Homely yet well equipped , spacious and comfortable , this recently modernised and extended former working crofters cottage, with electric heating throughout and traditional open fire in living room, comprises two plus one bedrooms ( see below) , living room with feature open coal fire, 40 inch smart internet flat screen television and dvd, the recently built extension with separate garden access, a modern kitchen with electric cooker, dish washer, microwave, washing machine and a shower room and toilet linking the original cottage with the extension. It will comfortably sleep up to 4 adults and two children.

NB

The second extension twin / triple bedroom is most suitable for children or teenagers , due to access to main cottage , kitchen , shower and toilet bathrooms etc only possible by passing through first bedroom .

Upper Imeraval Cottage enjoys an enviable location, both accessible to amenities and separate enough for peace and serenity.
2 bedrooms (a double and a twin bedded) with the flexible third room with twin beds and a put u up extra bed is most suitable for children , or adults on request and agreement , kitchen, shower room /toilet, living room with smart internet TV and DVD.
10 to 15 minutes walking distance to Hotels, shops, bars restaurants post office etc. Walking distance or short drive to three lovely unspoiled beaches, Traigh Bheag (Gaelic for "little beach") , Kilnaughton , with fantastic mediaeval chapel and graveyard, and Singing Sands. Short drive , longish walk or cycle to three world renowned distilleries, Ardbeg Lagavulin and Laphroaig and the iconic Scottish links golf course , "The Machrie".
