This two-year old, 1 room, totally off-grid cabin w/ an outhouse, is a gem sitting among the pines in beautiful Larkspur, CO. Home of the Renaissance Festival and 1/2 way in between Denver and Colorado Springs. Within a 30 minute drive to Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, Cave of the Winds & of course, Pikes Peak. Also about a 35 minute drive to hit South Denver. Enjoy the serene views of overlooking ranching fields through the pines in a comfortable, warm setting. Simple living indeed!

The space
**** COVID-19 INFO: THIS IS A 150 SQ. FT. CABIN. VERY EASY TO SANITIZE AFTER EACH AND EVERY GUEST! THERE ARE NOT ONLY SANITIZING WIPES IN THE CABIN AND OUTHOUSE, THERE IS HAND SANITIZER FOR YOUR USE IN BOTH THE CABIN AND OF COURSE THE OUTHOUSE! I SANITIZE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN TOUCHED **** Plenty of Pine trees/Pinecones, and a wonderful view from the front porch or anywhere on the property of the mountains/hills and open spaces. There is a futon/bunk bed with a full size bed on the bottom (3" gel memory foam pad too) with an upper twin bed. All bedding supplied and freshly laundered prior to each guest stay! There is also a futon chair that is basically a single bed but a comfortable sit too =) The cabin is on a 10-acre property where Dan & I and his elderly parents reside with plenty of room to roam. Thoughtfully appointed with 2 custom built "wash stations" that has your basic washing needs supplied, viewing/eating bar height area, breakfast nook area (continental breakfast supplied) and also an outside cooking area. There are no showers here! There are 2 solar camp shower bags outside during the summers to rinse off but if you need a full/regular shower, there is a wonderful truck stop in Monument (15 - 20 min. drive) that has clean showers, shopping and good food. The cooking area is on the porch and has a camp stove and a grill. There are some pots/pans, cooking utensils and even a stove-top percolator & French Press for that morning cup of Joe. Coffee and filters supplied. There is a heater inside, approved for inside use and the propane is supplied for that and also for the stove and the grill. There is NO electricity or WiFi! and no running water! You can get a cell phone signal about 2 miles away on Noe Road & at the "Lookout Tower" but will have none at the cabin itself. We have a landline here at the house for any emergencies =)
There is a quaint little outhouse w/a composting sawdust toilet only a few steps from the cabin. Instructions for how to use it are inside along with TP and hand sanitizer. A fire pit is set up in a designated area, with homemade, sturdy benches, perfect for roasting marshmallows =) A COOLER OR TWO IS A MUST! No refrigerator here. We do have 3 pound ice bags here for sale. Great for the cooler re-chill or to add to the drinking water cooler (supplied) There is a 5-gallon water jugs and a 2 gallon water jug supplied full of our fresh well water and a 3-gallon solar water bag to hang just above the inside "wash station". Many custom features, made by Dan (Sawdust & Splinters), some designed by well, Cheryl, but Dan built 'em =) The wash station, perfect example. There is plenty of wood in the wood bin already supplied. It is left over construction clean wood so if you want "log" type wood, you will need to purchase that.

*****Side note- if you are skiddish at all, namely bugs and/or mice, this may not be a good fit for you. We do our best to control the wildlife, bugs & mice, but Mother Nature seems to have her own agenda. There are always traps set in the cabin when not in use and are available during your stay if you truly want the mountain living experience

****Side note #2 - Dan is always doing repairs and/or building something and will absolutely do his best to keep any of those related noises at a minimum during your stay.

Where you’ll be

Larkspur, Colorado, United States

Nestled in the pines, just South of Larkspur Town Proper, the cabin is on 10 acres and many large working ranches surround us. You may hear anything from a lonely car on Noe Road to an Elk bugling in the meadows below. Wildlife is abundant here. There are deer, bear, bobcats, bunnies, squirrels and a huge variety of birds to name a few =) Unfortunately, there are also a lot of mice and bugs. We do our best to catch them all, but they seem to reproduce faster than rabbits. (if you are skiddish at all, this place is not a good fit) Spruce Mountain Trail is about a 5-minute drive from here and has been a favorite among our guests for many reasons but the most popular reason, proposals =) You can hike up to 4 miles and once you get to the top, the views are spectacular!

I am a Pioneer Native of Colorado, meaning that even my parents were both born here. Colorado is and always will be my home! Dan has lived here most of his adult life and was born in San Antonio, Texas. We love the mountains, people and we are so happy that we have a chance to meet so many others who share the same passions of this beautiful state as we do and yes, the 420 activities too =) We love to travel and loving our semi-retirement! I truly do not think that either one of us has ever worked harder in our lives. but through it all, we are a wonderfully happy semi-retired couple who enjoy life!

During your stay
As stated, we do live on the property and one or both of us are always available. We can give you complete space or mingle if you wish. We definitely do not mind chit chat... We do supply water at the beginning of your stay for the solar water heater bags (only works well in the summer months) & drink coolers, but if you need more water, that is at the house here on the north side. We are on a well and the water has been tested and proven to be absolutely pure spring water. We prefer to speak with you (greet you) upon check in to fill you in with the cabin/outhouse details and/or answer any questions you may have and you can pick up the key (if you feel the need to lock up when you leave, but not really necessary here). I do saunder up the driveway often and may say hello, but will not bug you if I get the feeling that y'all just want your privacy. I won't be offended..lol. Dan's elderly parents live in the Lodge across the driveway. His dad does (literally) shuffle around using his cane and sometimes sits on the deck, but he's totally harmless as he can't see much and definitely can't hear a thing!
