El Pescadero, Baja California Sur, Mexico

There's a lot to love about Cerritos Beach! What first caught our attention is just how friendly everyone is; not manufactured Aloha, but in a gentle, matter-of-fact sort of way that brims with integrity. The residents of the Baja are hard-working, capable, and resourceful people, they love kids and are overwhelmingly helpful.

The weather is always great, and when it gets too hot, the beach is right there or the pool is a 3 minute walk from our front door.

The food options are starting to shift from awesome to incredible. I list all of our recommendations in the house Guidebook, but here's a quick note: Pizza Napoli in our resort community is open year round and has amazing, brick oven pizza. Barricuda has world-class ceviche, cocktails and fish tacos. They are located under a quaint little palapa with a food truck kitchen right next door to Cerritos Sunrise (yellow places, can't miss em), 3 minutes walk from the beach. Shaka's is a jamming little Texas-themed sports bar just 5 minutes from the casita on Cerritos road. Great drinks, great food and the owner is a sweet guy. Baja Beans in El Pescadero has some of the best, house-roasted coffee we've ever had, wifi, and well-attended artisan markets with bands on the weekends. Herbabuena is the go-to gourmet restaurant in El Pescadero, with an ever-changing farm to table, seasonal menu, dangerous cocktails and a sublime open air setting. Finally, Derek's Sushi in Todos Santos is open for lunch and dinner, serving impeccable sushi dishes.

There's a whole cottage surfboard rental industry on the beach if you want to go el cheapo, or you can rent from Costa Azul Surf Shop 1 block from the beach. They have a great selection of Olea surfboards, hand-crafted by a talented Cabo shaper. There's also a couple of good board shops in Todos that sell rashies, suits, trunks and boards.

Todos Santos is a government- designated "Pueblo Magical," a distinction that grants them federal revenue to maintain their brick-cobbled roads and other historical features of this thriving artists' community. Home to countless art shops where you can get virtually everything from ceramic-to-hammock (go off the beaten path a little bit and you'll find some truly great work; the stuff on the main drag is a little kitschy).

There's several small groceries stores in and around Todos and El Pescadero, but the best produce comes from Agricole, a building located at the end of town on your left as you're leaving El Pescadero towards Todos. There's also an old hippy gringo that sells a fantastic range of fresh produce (time it for the blueberries, man) in an otherwise vacant brick building (sign says Organico) right before you hit El Pescadero on the right if you're coming from Cabo.
