Lane End is a spacious homely cottage in Godshill in the New Forest National Park. Great for couples, families or friends to enjoy with elevated views of the countryside, perfect for a short break or a holiday.
Endless Forest walks are on the doorstep with miles of heath land to explore by foot or bike.
Round off the day with a glass of champagne watching the sunset, a stroll up to the local pub 3 minutes away, a game of table tennis or pool or darts in the cob house.
The space
If we are 'full',please check out my mothers property with swim spa called 'Crossroads Cottage' located in Frogham - less than 10 minutes away.
For the last two years, with my brother and parents we have transformed Lane End into a beautiful home. Unlike other rental properties, this is my home and is furnished as such. The cottage is only available for limited periods in the year.

ACCESS
There are two entrances to the property, both gates must be kept closed to keep the ponies, donkeys, cows and pigs out of the garden.
- Lower (main) entrance - for vehicular access from Woodgreen road
- Upper (pedestrian) entrance - level direct access (avoiding the hill), with almost direct access to the forest, local pub and endless walks.
PARKING
- As you may be able to see from the aerial photo - parking is not a problem
Guest access
The entire property is yours , you do not share with anyone. One of 4 bedrooms is locked for storage, so 3 are available. The outbuildings are locked as there is nothing in them for guests and nothing of value. The cob house can be accessed, it now houses a pool table and darts board.
Other things to note
The property is about 15 minutes walk from Sandy Balls and about 5 minutes walk from the Fighting Cocks. This a popular area for holiday makers with a number of camp sites in the area as well as holiday homes.
The area around the Fighting Cocks is very popular with donkey families and regularly creates a 'traffic jam' with people slowing to see them or they are standing in the road!!
Dear Guests,
Welcome to Lane End. We are delighted that you are finally able to take this holiday, and we hope you have a relaxing break with your friends or family.
The property has been carefully prepared and sanitised prior to your arrival.
• Arrival & Departure Times - we would respectfully request that Maddie and Steve are allowed time to complete changeovers, so leave at 10am and arrivals are at 4pm This will allow enough time to ensure that the property is cleaned to the highest possible standards for every stay. If you arrive early, by all means drop off your luggage if practical. Sit in the garden, go for a walk, shopping, or to the pub!
During your Stay:
. We put one pillow per person on the bed and the 2nd one is in a bag on/in the wardrobe- during covid we decided to reduce extra elements which are not always used like 2nd pillows and bed dressings such as throws- but they are there if you want them. We picked up the idea in hotels we had stayed in.
• Wash your Hands! - Please do frequently wash your hands to stop the potential for the spreading of germs. – anti bacterial soap is provided by each ‘sink’.
• Waste Disposal - Waste should be disposed of in the normal responsible manner.
We must request guests ensure that properties are left clear of ‘household’ waste, with this bagged and disposed of on Friday morning as per rubbish/recycling collection instructions and in bins on departure. Bottles must be recycled using the council provided bottle banks or glass box at gate at Purlieu Lane entrance.
• Crockery - Please ensure all crockery, glasses, pots, pans, kitchen utensils, toothpaste mugs are left clean. Please do not leave any dirty dishes or ancillary items.
On Departure:
• If possible please, strip, remove and bag all bed linen, together with all towels, dish cloths, bath mats – We would request that guests use the red plastic sacks provided and leave them at the foot of each bed, in the bath or downstairs in the entrance.
• Bath robes and hot tub towels can be left in the entrance.
• Ensure all rubbish is bagged and left outside in an appropriate place, that all unused food stuffs are removed or disposed of and all plastics, tins, paper and bottles responsibly and safely recycled.
Your participation in these small steps, designed to protect both our changeover help and our guests will help us to ensure that our changeovers can be carried out hygienically but within the usual time constraints. Thank you very much for your cooperation, have a wonderful holiday and we hope to welcome you back again soon.
Thank you
Angela ,Eugene, Tim, Chris, and Maddie and Steve
NOTE
For those guests lucky enough to have two weeks, there will be no mid stay
cleaning, change of linen and towels will be left for you to change. (not the pillow/mattress protectors).
Again ‘used’ linen and towels will also need to be bagged for mid-week ‘linen’ change, these could be left outside in the covered area by Woodgreen Road gate to collect.
