This is a 3 story building with bedrooms on the top floor. There is no elevator. Rooms do not have TVs, but there is a TV room on the lower level if you need to get your fix. It is seldom used. There are other things to look at.

A healthy full breakfast is included in your stay with home-made bread, fruit scones, homemade yogurt, fruit, eggs and pancakes and cereals. We do not do meat. Across the road is the Gondola at Kicking Horse Resort with access to great skiing in the winter and hiking, mountain biking and sightseeing in the summer.

The owners live on site and prepare the great breakfast and are available throughout the day if needed. Unless they are skiing or hiking.

We are located in an adventure playground with some of the most amazing scenery in the world along with all sorts of outdoor activities available within easy reach including skiing and snowboarding, and snowshoeing in the winter. In the summer Glacier and Yoho National Parks are within 30 minute drive for some of the best hiking in the world. The Kicking Horse River just minutes away has some great whitewater rafting. Other activities include Golf at the Golden Golf club, horseback riding, sightseeing gondola and ridge hikes at Kicking Horse Resort, downhill and cross country mountain biking and much more.

We absolutely loved staying at the Vagabond Lodge! The lodge, room, common spaces and views were amazing. Our room had a super comfy bed and balcony with a view of the mountains. The breakfast provided was delicious and fresh. Lori was so wonderful to chat with and had so many great local stories and tips for exploring, as well as great restaurant recommendations. It was also fun to get to relax and socialize with our host and other guests in the lovely common space. We would absolutely stay here again!

We had the great pleasure of staying at Vagabond Lodge over the xmas-new years period. Everything about the experience was superlative, thanks to the proprietors Ken and Lori, including: * Great/efficient communication prior to arrival. * Great breakfast and lunches. * A beautiful accommodation: well furnished, spacious, warm, inviting. * Encyclopedic knowledge of the area, able to answer just about anything you might ask. I could probably go on, but the bottom line is that this is a place I know I want to come back and which I recommend without hesitation. Thank you again!

Ken met us promptly upon arrival and proceeded to guide us through the Vagabond Lodge while proceeding to our room, Kicking Horse room 1. Both Ken and Lori where genuinely happy to assist us with any of the numerous question we ask. Their advise was pivotal in us having the fantastic time we had, hiking Lake Moraine, Loiuse, and ultimately along the spine of the Kicking Horse ridge to T2! Ken finished it off with reservations for Jane and I at Restaurant 1120 in Golden. Perfect. Thank you again Ken and Lori Greg and Jane

Our stay with Ken and Lori exceeded all our expectations. They make you feel like you are staying with family. I think all the other guests feel the same because you get to know them as well over breakfast, board games and/ or around the fireplace. The breakfast provided was amazing and they were more than accommodating to food intolerances/ allergies with wonderful homemade bread and amazing scones, regular and gluten free!! They were great ambassadors for Golden as well and were able to provide excellent suggestions for dining out. The decor was beautiful. You can tell a lot of love and care was put into building and maintaining their property. We look forward to staying with them again in the near future and are recommending all our friends to do the same if staying in the Golden/ Kicking Horse area.

Response from Ken:
Christopher. We appreciate your comments. We enjoy what we do. The best part is meeting and nice people. We fell in love with Golden when we moved here and feel it is a hidden gem. Maybe not so hidden any longer. But we are so proud of what the area has to offer and like to share it with everyone. It is too good to keep to ourselves. Lori and I hope to see you back again.

We just returned from our trip to The Rocky's and it was phenomenal. Not just because of the scenery or breathtaking views but also because Ken and Lori made it so! They were naturally fantastic hosts, taking a genuine interest in our holiday and who we were. They helped with plans for every day that we were there - this was a last minute trip and we had done little research, so very much welcomed the advice. It was also great to have local knowledge of where to go and what to see. We spent some (but little time) in the touristy places (Lake Louise and Banff etc) and instead visited the places Ken and Lori suggested. No regrets. Their suggestions were awesome. Golden as a town was great too! Central location, lots to do, great food etc. Vagabond Lodge is beautifully built, traditional, community oriented and very clean. The rooms were spacious and just what we wanted. We will definitely been returning and recommending to all our friends. THANKS KEN AND LORI!
