Peace and quiet

Purpose built 4 x 6 metre cabin, fully insulated with electric heating for all year letting. comprising a double bedroom, kitchen & seating area with spacious shower & bathroom. The kitchen includes an under the counter fridge freezer, 2 ring hob, air fryer and microwave for simple meal preparation.
This is not a pod style construction. it's light and bright throughout the building.
We have included a bench for seating outside. Modern design, comfortable furnishings & tastefully decorated.

The space
This is a bespoke purpose built stand alone cabin situated within The National Trust for Scotland Lochalsh Estate. The bothy is situated within a picturesque village boasts a cafe, gallery and gift shop as well as a visitor centre. There are numerous walks within a short distance of the cabin. This cabin is marketed as a self catering letting however we will provide you with a small welcome pack which will include your first breakfast (continental) to help you settle in. we have recently installed WiFi and a smart tv for our guests convenience. This cabin is bright and airy it is not a pod, there are nice views of the village and mountains. very close to key areas of interests such as Eilean Donan Castle, Plockton, Isle of Skye. Centrally located for travel to West Ross , Applecross and for exploring all that Lochalsh has to offer.
Perfect place to unwind after a busy day of activity such as Hill walking, wild swimming, cycling, or any other outdoor pursuits. The bothy is situated in its own private setting with a pleasant outdoor area. The bothy is not overlooked by other buildings but close enough to our home if you need anything.

Guest access
You will be renting the entire Bothy, you will not be sharing this space with other guests. There is a key safe to enter the property if you would prefer to limit interactions due to COVID however we live 2 minutes away from the bothy if you need anything.

Other things to note
The bothy was completed in 2019. There is WiFi and a smart tv so you can stream tv channels or log in to access your own Netflix, Prime or similar apps There is limited phone connectivity in the village but you will be able to use WiFi calling by logging into the bothy WiFi.
Many of our guests have commented that they really appreciate the peace and quiet that comes with being non-contactable for periods of time however guests can now choose to use the WiFi or turn of their devices and switch off from modern day distractions.

COVID - we will ensure that the bothy is thoroughly cleaned between every booking & will ensure that we leave sufficient cleaning materials in situ to enable guests to wipe down surfaces for additional peace of mind.

Ideally located for access to Skye, the Skye bridge is 4 minutes drive from the Bothy, Eilean Donan Castle is 5 minutes drive & the picturesque village of Plockton is 10 minutes drive. there are numerous attractions within reasonable travel times, and the village is ideally suited as a base for onward exploration.
For guests who have an EV, there are charging stations within a few minutes' drive from the bothy. We do not provide a charging station. Guests are prohibited from charging EVs at the bothy due to potential fire risk and additional costs incurred.

I moved to the Highlands approximately 17yrs ago, I was born in Surrey but lived most of my life in Hampshire before relocating to Balmacara. My Partner Rena was born in this village but left when she was 19 yrs old, she always intended to return to her home village & local community when she could. We began our air bnb journey in 2019 with a view to becoming self sufficient in terms of generating an income from tourism. we have had the experience of navigating our way through a global pandemic which we could never have anticipated. This was challenging with a fledging business dependant on tourism however we are grateful to have survived and now hope we can build up our reputation as excellent hosts.
