Like social distancing? We do too :) Our tiny house is a great place for a little stay-cation. Fully isolated on our 60-acre property, our cozy space is a perfect place to observe wildlife and enjoy a relaxing and private retreat.

For your safety, we have instituted strict cleaning protocols and down-time between reservations. If you have any questions or concerns about how we plan to keep you safe during your stay please reach out, we would love to chat.

The space
Though it only measures 8.5 feet wide x 21 feet long, our tiny house is a fully functional micro house where you can sleep, cook and live in comfort. Linens, towels, cookware, etc. are provided. Just bring your luggage and groceries!

ON THE MAIN LEVEL:

Open-concept kitchen, dining and living areas are great for preparing meals and hanging out together

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook a delicious meal, but please note that due to space constraints, traditional kitchen appliances are replaced by a single-burner induction cooktop, high-end countertop oven, and an under-counter refrigerator (no freezer in the tiny house).

The kitchen table can comfortably seat two in the folded position, and can be folded out to accommodate additional guests.

In the living area, you will find a full-size sofa, which can be converted to an additional bed to accommodate a third guest.

The main floor also boasts a full bathroom with a 32-inch shower stall, full-size vanity and conventional flush toilet.

LOFT LEVEL:

The master bed is located above the kitchen and is accessible by ladder. For this reason, the tiny house is not suitable for guests with mobility impairments.

OUTDOOR SPACE:

The tiny house has its own private outdoor living space, complete with campfire pit (please check with hosts before planning a campfire as local restrictions on outdoor fires may be in place depending on weather conditions) and private deck. A BBQ is also available for guest to use during their stay.

The tiny house is located on the hosts' rural acreage property, and is located approximately 300 feet from the main house, where trees provide privacy. We ask that guests park in the main driveway and walk a short distance over the grass to the tiny house, and can assist with luggage as needed.

Please note that the tiny house is in a rural area, and we ask guests to be conscious of wildlife during their stay, and clean up any trash immediately after use. A sturdy exterior garbage bin is provided for guests to safely stow bags of garbage.

Guest access
Guests have exclusive access to the tiny house and patio during their stay, and are welcome to enjoy the rest of our large property as well. We would be happy to point out where you can find blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and apples when they are in season.

Guest parking is available, however we note that the tiny house is located a short walk from the parking area (approximately 300 feet).

Other things to note
The tiny house's space-saving features unfortunately make it unsuitable for small children or anyone who is mobility impaired.

Note that the property is located somewhat close to Canadian Forces Base Gagetown, so noise from training exercises and aircraft can occasionally by heard on the property, depending on the season, cloud cover and wind conditions.

Mosquitoes can be very abundant at certain times of the year, especially during early summer. We will supply a DEET-based bug spray for guests to use, but we strongly suggest packing looser, long-sleeved shirts, long pants and shoes that provide full coverage.

Location

Burton, New Brunswick, Canada

Swan Creek is a rural community located approximately 15 minutes from the town of Oromocto, and approximately 30 minutes from Fredericton. We are located a 7-minute drive from the nearest convenience store, so we suggest guests plan to bring any groceries or items they will need during their stay.

The Village of Gagetown is a scenic, historic village located approximately 15 minutes from the tiny house. We suggest making a dinner reservation in the village, visiting local pottery and craft shops, making a stop at one of several fruit u-picks, or taking a walk on one of the trails near the village.

The hosts' property spans a total of 58 acres, approximately 6 acres of which consists of a cleared field. The rest of the property is forest and wetland. You'll find a variety of wildlife including frogs, deer, moose, foxes, woodpeckers, hummingbirds etc. Though we aren't farmers, the property was previously farmed and boasts beautiful (but sadly neglected) cultivated apple trees, and numerous berry patches which we encourage guests to pick and make use of.

My husband Steve and I both work full-time in professional jobs, but love to host guests at our property in rural New Brunswick. We have previously welcomed Airbnb guests in a guest suite in a previous home, and have also rented our entire space in the past. We have spent the last year and a half completely rebuilding what was an outdated, inefficient cape cod house, and have turned it into an ultra energy-efficient modern home. We lived in the tiny house full time for a year while completing renovations in the main house, so we are more than happy to discuss our experience and the sustainable design choices we made while renovating the main house.

We lived in the tiny house full time for more than a year while we renovated our own house, converting it from a very outdated cape cod to an energy-efficient, modern house. We are always happy to chat about full-time tiny living and/or sustainable home design.
