Our place is close to the town of Sooke yet surrounded by farms, a short drive to beaches, located on a peaceful, forested 2 acres. We will be on hand if our guests need directions to one of Sooke's brewpubs, hiking trails, how to find a secret beach or which local lake is prime for swimming.

The space
We follow best practice guidelines in cleaning our lovely space, every time, for every guest.

The Cedar Nook Airbnb is a separate suite with keyless entry, located on the first floor of our house, facing the forest.

Come to relax, recharge and explore! We're offering a self-contained guest suite in a forested haven near Sooke's many beaches.

The main bedroom has a queen-sized comfortable bed. The den has twin trundle beds and a chaise lounge, games, magazines, books for the kids and adults, perfect for an afternoon snooze. A cozy living room space to rewind after exploring Sooke. The sofa in the living room turns into a double size pull out bed, always made and ready for guests. The kitchen contains everything needed to make a scrumptious meal. Electric cooktop, oven, microwave, coffee maker, grinder and good beans! Dishwasher for easy clean up, also front-loading washing machine and dryer, we provide scent-free laundry strips . A bright four-piece bathroom, and we've been told our water pressure is divine.

Trails for morning or afternoon walks nearby. Horses and farms neighbouring our place, Kemp Lake is a 20 min walk away, eggs available across the street or down the road.

It's a quiet retreat, prepare to relax.

** please take note**

We offer the Airbnb suite for our guest's stay, unfortunately not any other part of our property. We've had guests wander onto our neighbour's property, there are bear, cougar around, we cannot be responsible for any injury incurred if a guest falls or damages something on our property. We are more than happy to share locations of local walking trails nearby. We cannot accommodate last minute fire pit requests as we may not be there to set up a fire for guests.

Guest access
**please read and respond to our welcome message! We require that our guests have read the basics, like check-in and check-out times, house rules including additional rules, and basic information regarding our suite that we send a day before arrival. Airbnb requires guests read and adhere to the house rules of the booking they've chosen to stay and relax in. **

1. We have had early arrivals and late check-outs, and wish to remind guests that our check-in time is 4 p.m. and check-out time is 11 a.m. Thank you!

2. We have had guests arriving without reading our house rules or additional house rules. Guests automatically agree to all house rules when they book an Airbnb, please make sure to read our house rules before arrival.

Our home is easy to find, and there is parking onsite. To access the guest suite walk around the back of our house, towards the back steps, the suite entrance is to the left. Use the door code and relax.

Other things to note
In the event of a power outage we have provided flashlights located on top of the fridge for our guests. Two magnetized flashlights on top of the fridge. Also candles and giant plate to set the candles upon are in the closet. If there is a power outage wifi and cable will not work, nor will the landline phone in the suite. Sadly water will be unavailable until power is restored, which is why we have a 5 gallon jug of water on the porch, for flushing toilets. Guests are encouraged to take a drive, go for a walk or head to a local pub/restaurant, possibly visit our local rec center for a swim while waiting for the power outage to be fixed by BC Hydro. Power outages usually last between 4-6 hrs. We hope our guests understand that we are not able to anticipate, nor resolve, a power outage should one occur, and if we are not at home cannot do much to assist our guests. If we are home of course we'll do our best to help our guests. BC Hydro has a website that will list all areas affected by the outtage, the cause of the outtage and how long it will take to fix.

Neighbourhood highlights

Our neighbourhood is all about beaches! The first beach down Westcoast road is Gordons Beach, located a 5-minute drive from our home. The next beach is Muir Creek Beach a few minutes drive down Westcoast road with a 15 meter high siltstone cliff containing well-defined marine fossils in a variety of strata. We have China Beach, Sandcut Beach, Mystic Beach, Jordon River, Sombrio Beach, Botanical Beach and Port Renfrew, all within an hour drive from our place. Followed by Fairy Lake and Lizard Lake, both day-use or recreational camping sites, excellent for swimming and trout fishing. If you decide to visit Sooke, several craft breweries await your arrival. Award-winning Sheringham Distillery offers tours daily. Tugwell Creek Honey Farm & Meadery also offer tours and is a 5 minute drive from our place. Likewise, Saltwest Naturals offers salt making tours just down the road from us. Sheringham Point Lighthouse, Sooke museum, and many local hiking areas are a short distance away. We love going to The Stick for freshly roasted coffee in Sooke. We sometimes drive to Shirley Delicious, located in Shirley 10 mins from our place, for lunch or a treat, great atmosphere, along with great coffee! A 20-minute drive along West Coast road you will find Stoked Wood Fired Pizzeria and Market. Two minutes from Stoked are two great places to enjoy the pizza- either Fish Boat Bay or French Beach. We love it here and so will you!
