Nostalgic. Historic. Authentic. If you listen carefully, you might hear the bell of the local boxing ring that stood here in 1820.

Over a century later, the ring is now the Cheshire Rail Suite, a modern and well-equipped apartment to make your vacation notable.

In the heart of Troy, you'll enjoy hiking, biking, snowmobiling, or simply taking in the local views. Every season has something new, and we can't wait for you to experience everything we love about New Hampshire.

Troy, New Hampshire, United States

From the back door, a winding path leads you to the Cheshire Rail Trail and the start of your unique adventure. Guests can walk to the center of Troy, discover quiet fishing spots and swimming holes, or continue along the trail for a woodland stroll.

Mount Monadnock, just a few minutes from Troy, is often cited as the second most hiked mountain in the world, second only to Mount Fuji. On a clear day, it is possible to see Boston from the summit. From our experience, hiking Mount Monadnock takes roughly 3 or 4 hours to complete and is appropriate for hikers aged 10+.

For a more relaxed hiking experience or younger families, Gap Mountain is situated right in Troy. The peak of Gap Mountain is an excellent spot for a picnic and a picturesque view of Mount Monadnock. If you climb Gap Mountain in the late summer, you can enjoy freshly picked blueberries to round off your hike.

During the winter months, guests can snowmobile along the rail trail, go snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or ice-skating. Alpine skiing and tubing are within driving distance at Crotched Mountain and Granite Gorge. In the evenings, the historic Colonial Theatre in Keene hosts a bevy of performances, comedy acts, classic and contemporary movies, concerts, and dance troupes.

For a more refined experience that's worth the drive, adults can enjoy local breweries, wineries, and distilleries, or visit L. A. Burdick's in Walpole for specialty chocolates and fine dining.

Our favorite local haunts include:
The Inn at East Hill Farm, where families can visit the animals on the farm and even take horseback riding lessons.

Monadnock Berries is home to a variety of fruits, including blueberries, raspberries, currants, and gooseberries. On-site is the Granite Roots brewery, where you can enjoy a refreshing brew after an afternoon of berry picking.

Alyson's Orchard is one of our Fall favorites. Activities include apple picking, hayrides, or sampling the flavors of New England with fresh cider and apple pie.
