The property benefits from a private terrace as well as access to a large private south facing riverside garden with fire pit.
Hawkswick lies within the unspoilt picturesque Littondale valley in Upper Wharfedale.

The space
Beamed ceilings, stone/oak floors and a roaring stove gives Redmire Barn a cosy and relaxed feel. The living area leads out through double doors onto a large stone paved private terrace with garden furniture, a BBQ, various herbs/plants and stunning views up and across Littondale. There is also table-tennis table on the terrace.
A well equiped kitchen with Bosch oven, induction hob, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer & underfloor heating complete the downstairs layout.

Where you’ll be

North Yorkshire, United Kingdom

In a rural village setting Hawkswick is well situated within the very popular upperwharfedale area yet just off the beaten track so as to avoid the crowds. Within 10 minutes drive are the villages of Threshfield, Linton, Grassington, Kettlewell, Buckden and Arncliffe- home of the famous Falcon Inn (the original Woolpack pub from Emmerdale Farm) where beer is still served in jugs direct from the cask (30 minute scenic walk along the river skirfare)

The area is teaming with traditional Dales pubs and cafes as well as deli's, fine dining restaurants and a very well stocked convenience store with an award-winning butcher.

Upperwharfedale has always been known for it's stunning scenery and in recent years has gained world-wide adoration thanks to hosting the Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire. Littondale and the surrounding areas provide walks for people of all abilities from a 15 minute lap of the village of the Yorkshire 3 peaks and everything in between. Walking opportunities are available directly from the property.

Trout fishing is a popular pastime in the area, with the river Skirfare providing some of the most idyllic places in the country to cast a line - day tickets are available at the Falcon Inn, Arncliffe. Those with less experience may wish to try their luck at Kilnsey Park Estate 2 miles downriver where even a novice is sure to catch a trout. The park also has nature trails, crafts and a fine cafe.
Stumpcross Caverns, White Scar caves and Ingleborough caves are all within easy commute and offer an opportunity to see what lies below the beautiful scenery of Upper Wharfedale.
At the head of the dale lies Halton Gill and Malham Cove filming locations for ‘Woman in Black’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows/Philosopher's Stone.’ ‘The Calendar girls’ was also filmed in Upper Wharfedale. (Our Facebook page; ‘Redmire Barn, Dales Holiday Cottage’ has links to useful information about many of these popular places.)
The Yorkshire boasts an abundance of waterfalls, to name only a few; Janet’s Foss (near Malham Cove/ Gordale Scar), Linton Falls, Aysgarth Falls, Stainforth Force (Settle) and Ingleton Waterfalls Trail which is a well-known circular trail beginning and ending in the village of Ingleton. It is claimed that the trail, some 8 kilometres (5 mi) long, and with a vertical rise of 169 m (554 feet) has some of the most spectacular waterfall and woodland scenery in the north of England.

Long Ashes spa and fitness centre 3 miles from the property provides treatments as well as a gym, swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, cafe and restaurant. Day passes can be purchased to use the facilities. If you fancy bracing a spot of ‘wild-swimming’ there are some popular spots near to us.

The market town of Skipton is around 25 minutes drive and is home to many excellent pubs, restaurants, shops, Skipton market - 3 times a week and a very well preserved medieval castle. Narrow boat rides are available in Skipton.
Skipton and surrounding areas were recently recognised as the happiest place in England to live!

During your stay
Redmire Barn is within the grounds of our farmhouse and as such we are usually on hand to offer advise on the area. There’s probably lots you wish to know about grocery shopping/ walks/ pubs & restaurants etc!
During the COVID-19 crisis we won’t be touring you around the property as we usually do but don’t worry... we won’t abandon you. There’s a laminated ‘tour-on-paper’ that you’ll find in the kitchen on your arrival. We’ll have a chat on your patio once you have taken your bags in and had a quick look around.
We are only next door should you need us.
Things are changing all the time as lockdown here is gradually lifting so we will regularly keep our guests up to date with changes as they happen.
