Dancing Yarrow Retreat is an eco-retreat in the drift-less area on the Buffalo River. We offer 15 acres of wooded trails, 4 acres of organic gardens, kayaking, canoeing, 9-hole Frisbee Golf, sauna, classes & retreat stays. Camping coming soon.

The space

Dancing Yarrow Retreat is a unique eco-retreat destination that practices holistic healing, sustainability, education and retreats. We are located in the drift-less area near Mondovi, WI directly on the beautiful Buffalo River.

This posting is for our rustic camping...

The retreat center is a 4,000 square foot building that houses 2 separate living quarters. One side has a two bedroom apartment, and the other side of the retreat offers 5 bedrooms that can be rented individually.

Our 4 acres of organic gardens offer guests a farm to fork experience that focuses on seasonal eating. We grow and produce about 70% of what we eat, and the rest we purchase from our friends and neighbors. The retreat has 15 acres of wooded hiking and skiing trails that wind along a quarter mile of the very private Buffalo River. Great for kayaking, canoeing, and a dip in the river on a hot day or after a wood stove sauna session. We have a 9-hole Frisbee Golf course onsite, along with horse shoes and other yard games. There is also nearby access to biking, horse riding, ATV, and snowmobile trails. We also have an off-the-grid Monolithic home powered on solar. Tours by request.

Guest access

You will have free access to the properties gardens, wooded trails, 9-hole Frisbee Golf course, horseshoes, and other yard games. You may use produce from the garden, just ask us first before harvesting. We have 11 gardens that spread over 4 acres, and a guide through them is sometimes needed. We have kayaks and canoes available for rental for $30. There is also a wood stove sauna available for $20 per session. Just ask us to prepare it for you. Also, if you would like a campfire, there is $20 preparation and tending fee. We also have rustic camping opportunities coming soon.

Interaction with guests

We live in a Monolithic Dome home that is located on the property. We will be present on the property, but the retreat location is very private and away from our dwelling, so we can be interactive, or not, which ever is the guests desire. On the Bed & Breakfast side of the retreat center, we make breakfast every morning and have more interaction with the guests.

Other things to note

Dancing Yarrow Retreat also offers wedding and honeymoon packages. We have a newly remodeled barn that seats 80-125 people. We offer seasonal gourmet cuisine and wood-fired pizzas. Make your wedding a retreat for your whole wedding party, from wedding to honeymoon!

We use natural, homeopathic healing practices, and offer health and nutritional consultations and evaluations. Asian facial, hand and body evaluations are used to determine what the bodies organs are saying.

People who come here find that it is a very healing and peaceful place for them to rediscover themselves. Nature has a way of touching the soul, bringing it sunshine when in need. The location, plus the combination of the highly mineralized organic food, adds to an experience that many have never had.

This place is beautiful!! It felt like a dream land. Dennis was extremely nice and easy going-he and everyone would always check in once in awhile to see if we were enjoying our stay. Two girl friends and I decided to do the tent lodging-which was very peaceful and serene. There are showers provided (hot and cold) and outhouses or flush-able toilets. We went hiking around the huge land they owned and every little corner was always a beautiful surprise. At night the place turned into this down to earth romantic movie scene-everything was perfect for a little getaway trip from the cities. And did I mention the delicious wood fire pizza?! All the ingredients come from their beautiful garden! You'll have to try their pizza dessert! Yyyummmmm

Beautiful place and everyone was very warm and welcoming. The place isnt that hard to find as there is a sign on the road that helps :) My boyfriend and I kept to ourselves most of the stay but everyone was still very respectful and kind. The location was absolutely beautiful although lots of bugs so be prepared. Definitely would stay again.

This is a beautiful, relaxing organic farm, very low key and quiet. The rustic camping is simply another way of saying just camp wherever you want on the farm. There are no sites and it's very laid back. The outdoor shower and bathrooms are great to have. The kayak rental and trip was a blast, really pretty river with no one else around. Dennis was really kind and helpful. It felt safe and the gardens are lovely. A little buggy (July) but by fire pit at night and on the river by day, we were good.

Dancing Yarrow retreat was a haven! We had the chance to chat a bit with Dennis, and he was the epitome of hospitality. The combination of fireflies, friendly dogs, wood-fired pizza, and floating down the Buffalo River in kayaks, made for a perfect escape from city life! Thank you to Dennis and the entire Farm to Fork crew for being so kind and accommodating.

This place is magical! When we arrived, Dennis took a moment to show us around and find the perfect spot to camp for the evening. After setting up our tent, we enjoyed a garden pizza from the restaurant (with fresh pesto from the garden -- yum!) and spotted cow on tap. We enjoyed the rest of the evening checking out the garden, watching the sunset, and admiring the fireflies that danced around our tent. We hope to come back the next time we are in WI for sure!
