To accommodate guests looking to social distance, the house has been separated into two living areas. Guests enter the front door with private guest suite on the 2nd floor. We enter the back door and our living space is on the first floor.

The space
You will be staying in one of the oldest homes in Keene. The Aaron Seaman House was built in 1804 and has much of its antique Colonial Charm.

Your private space includes two bedrooms each with a queen bed and futon. The 1st bedroom has a firmer mattress and includes an adjoining sitting room. There is a door in between the rooms, so if one person wants to sleep, while the other stays up to read or watch some TV, this gives added privacy.

The 2nd bedroom has a softer mattress and is approximately the same size as the 1st bedroom, but with more of an open concept. It includes a sitting area / futon with desk and chair for a workspace.

In addition to your private rooms and bathroom, there is a beverage / snack center in the hallway outside your rooms. Help yourself to the complimentary coffee, tea and snacks. There is a mini-fridge, microwave, ice maker, tea kettle and k-cup coffee maker. Filtered water is available in the fridge as well as some water bottles.

Your bathroom has shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided in the 42" x 32" stand-up shower. Please note the decorative shower door has an opening of 16" wide.

The Aaron Seaman House is over 200 years old and retains many of its antique charms such as original wood beams, wide wooden board floors and stained glass over the entryway. Being over 200 years old, it also has the typical quirks of a house this age. The walls are original horse hair plaster and the floors have settled throughout the years so some areas may be a little uneven and the stairs may squeak as you go up and down.

Back in the day, homes were made for much shorter people, so for our taller guests, keep that in mind as you enter the rooms!

We welcome travelers from all walks of life and consider hosting a privilege.

Guest access
Your area of the house is private. Your rooms are upstairs, our rooms are downstairs. Your entrance is at the front of the house, ours it at the back of the house. We have installed a divider in the downstairs hallway to further assist with privacy. Although we are in the same house, there is no overlap of living space. With this, we are able to maintain social distancing due to Covid 19.

With the new set up for social distancing, you may hear us, but not see us! However, we are happy to meet outside in the driveway where we can social distance and are typically around to help out if you need anything!

Other things to note
✓ This is a smoke-free home.

✓ There are stairs up to the rooms and the antique floors may be uneven in spots so please watch your step and wear the slippers provided as the wooden floors may be slippery with just socks.

✓ People in the 1800's were shorter than today, so please watch your head at times, especially in the bathroom with some of the original beams from when the house was built in 1800's.

✓The heat and AC in your rooms is separate from the house and you control the temperature. We do supplement the heat for the main part of the house with a wood stove and pellet stove.

✓As part of our cleaning routine, we use a UV Light Sanitizer Lamp that emits UVC germicidal light in each room. Studies have shown the light helps to inactivate viruses, bacteria, mold, mildew and fungi by breaking down their DNA or RNA. These lights are also helpful in the prevention of secondary allergies related to airborne allergens.

15 minutes North is beautiful Walpole, NH with Burdick's Chocolate Shop and European Restaurant, as well as the stunning Walpole Mountain View Winery.

A 20 – 25 minute drive West will take you to Brattleboro VT, a funky, fun classic VT spot. The Marina Restaurant and Whetstone Brewery's rooftop Beer Garden both overlook the Connecticut River.

Many ski areas are in easy driving distance: Granite Gorge, Crotched Mountain, Mt. Sunapee, Mt. Snow, Pat’s Peak and more!

We have lived in the Aaron Seaman House for over 20 years and raised four kids in it. With the kids flown out of the nest, we anticipated having to sell the house and downsize going into retirement. An antique house like this is pretty expensive to maintain! Airbnb has changed that for us!! Hosting brings us joy and all funds received are reinvested back into the property. Abe has replaced all the old windows in the bedrooms, repaired, painted the horsehair plaster walls and updated some of the electrical. We have an on-demand hot water heater installed so no one runs out of hot water with back to back showers! We love the Keene area, talking about it and sharing it with guests. When we aren’t “at work” or working on the house, you’ll find us spending time with family / friends, riding motorcycles or maybe volunteering at an off-road car rally race. Abe currently works part-time at the Keene airport, which fits perfectly with his love of aviation. In the Coast Guard, he was part of the helicopter flight crew. Abe is also pretty handy. He is a master carpenter and can pretty much fix anything. A couple of the restaurants in the downtown show off his craft and he custom made the beverage center and the bed frame in bedroom #2. Abe is also a motorcycle and car enthusiast. He enjoys riding his Triumph motorcycles and doing auto cross in his Mustang. Bonnie works out of the house as a Selling Partner for Amazon. Before that she was a personal secretary in the Boston area for over 30 years. She loves “geeking” out on all the details for the Airbnb. Her long-time dream was to run a bed and breakfast, but since she, admittedly, can’t cook, having an Airbnb is a perfect fit. We consider hosting an honor and a privilege. We look forward to every guest!
