Stayed at Joshua's place with another couple. It's a great area with a ton of fantastic restaurants nearby. Place is big for city standards, clean and check in was smooth. It was about 5c/40f when we were there and there's no heating but there were lots of space heaters that did the trick. Thanks again. :)

We stayed at Josh’s place last weekend. The pros are the location was excellent, only a few blocks from the subway, the apartment is as pictured, and the kitchen appliances were top notch. HOWEVER, much was left to be desired. I’m not sure if it was just a fluke (I doubt it), but this place has NO HEAT! When we arrived in Harlem it was 17F outside! I wasn’t expecting central heating/air since this is the north, but there wasn’t a single radiator or a baseboard heater to be found in the entire unit. We called Gordy and he removed the window air condition units and brought us another space heater. So in total, we had 3 space heaters. Remember that scene in Willy Wonka where the grandparents all slept in the same bed? Yeah, that was us. Speaking of the bed, in the master bedroom, the sheets were clean, but the comforter on top was not. But with the space heaters and a closed door, we didn’t need to use it. The toilet in the master bedroom had a cracked seat. We didn’t even use the second bedroom because it was too cold. There was no “Welcome” material, so there weren’t any instructions about where to place our trash or what to do with the used towels. This isn’t a second home, it’s actually lived in when not rented. There were dirty dishes in the stove and the clean dishes were on a dish towel drying beside an unclean sink. The apartment must still be undergoing renovations since there were exposed wires dangling from the ceiling in nearly every room. Maybe in the warmer months this apartment would be great, but I can’t recommend it for late fall/winter until the heating situation is resolved.

The apartment is located in a decent neighborhood fairly close to a subway station. A sandwich shop or fine dining are also nearby. Parking on the street is possible, but it can be a challenge. The roof with provided chairs is a nice touch. Having a glass of wine under the illuminated roof lights was very nice.
