Cosy, newly renovated one bedroom garden suite, old style lower ceiling, on ground floor of house with kitchen facility, no stove, private bathroom with bathtub across the hall, and south facing covered patio. Tastefully furnished with original art work. Only two blocks from very urban Commercial Drive, with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops; it is the perfect hideaway.

Where you’ll be

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Commercial Drive is the most vibrant, urban "hood" in Vancouver, Little Italy with cafes restaurants and shops. My favourite is Cafe Calabria on the Drive at 2nd Ave. Italian statues, music, sandwiches and soups, cold drinks and coffee. Fave restaurants are: Tatsu, Japanese bistro on Commercial Drive at Grant Street, Sopra Sotto, Italian restaurant and Cafe du Soleil on the Drive. My listing is two blocks from the Drive in a quiet residential area. Don't hesitate to ask me for more info ...

I am a Vancouver artist showing my work locally and internationally. I also write fiction and translate academic books and articles. I love to listen to the blues, jazz and world music. My husband and I enjoy the company of a culturally diverse group of friends and excited to open our house to new ones. As my motto, I like to combine the pessimism of the intellect with the optimism of the will, to paraphrase Gramsci.

During your stay

I respect my guests privacy, but if they have questions or need info about the "hood", or Vancouver they are welcome to ask. My husband and I are outgoing people, love to talk with our guests if they want to talk to us. But there is no pressure one way or the other...
