The space
NOTE: This home is all electric and a CO detector is not needed. This is a modest 1 story retirement home typical of this community. Guest are provided a mini-Keurig plus on the bathroom counter, with K-cups or tea bags. Breakfast in the form of some combo of muffin, fruit, and/or protein bar will be in your room (or left on kitchen counter for longer term guests). Mini frig & ice bucket in the bedroom for your convenience. You may use the stove and microwave now & then by pre-arrangement. (This is my home so I cook & have personal guests.) More information is provided on the wall near the closets. My senior boxer is a sweetheart, but I have baby gates and can keep him away from the guest area if you prefer. The yard is filled with tropical plants and fruits & you are welcome to enjoy them in season. I am a beginning artist, so there are less than professional paintings hanging around, along with a few quality pieces of art. The sunroom is my personal art/craft space and is not shared. Watch sunsets over Tampa Bay from various locations within a short drive (15-20 minutes) - or watch the "afterglow" (or have morning coffee) from my screened patio surrounded by plants. The drive across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge into St. Petersburg is one of the most beautiful views anywhere, and there are several great museums in St. Pete. Anna Maria Island and Pass-a-Grille beaches are @ 45 minutes away. Tarpon Springs, a Greek fishing village, is less than 1 1/2 hours, as is Disney. Manatee Viewing Center is nearby, free, and open during the winter. There is no reason to be bored in you are in this area!

Safety is the special feature here. It is a golf cart community with many small lakes and is great for scenic walks or biking. You will see sand hill cranes, pink spoonbill, heron, and many other birds around the lakes (or in yards). A nature trail is only a few blocks away. There is a small cafe with limited hours in the nearby Atrium Building (where pools & gym are located) as well as a couple more in the shopping center & others within 2 miles. There is a large regional library near us. There is a hospital in the community and another only a few miles away should you have an emergency. Beaches are @ 45 minutes away; sunset views over Tampa Bay @ 15-20 minutes away. There are several festivals within easy driving distance during the cooler months, as well as the free Manatee Viewing Center.

I love FL, the beaches, festivals, and even the theme parks, and I enjoy being outdoors when possible. I love to travel and to visit my kids in their various states. I enjoy museums, live theater, botanical gardens, historical homes - most things, actually. I started art classes not that long ago and am looking for more time to paint. I've published poetry and won a state wide award for journalism. I love people, though I value alone time, too, and I have a wonderful group of friends in the Sun City Center /Tampa area.

During your stay
I usually only rent when I am at home, so I will be in and out all during the day and home many evenings during your stay. About one Friday night a month I host a group of friends for our game night and may have other guests now & then.
