This charming house was St. Benedict's Episcopal Church from 2004 until today. It was originally La Veta Seventh-day Adventist Church, established in 1900. When planning how to re-model the Church into a home this year, it was decided to leave as much of the original Church as possible. With the help of the La Veta Historical Committee's advice, we totally re built the interior, new kitchen, welcoming front room with gas fireplace, beautiful bedroom, new bathroom and private back yard.

The space
This house is one block from main street, walking distance to restaurants, shops, outdoor stores, art galleries , the library with bicycle rentals, music venues, and Fort Francisco Museum. The town of Cuchara is 11 miles up Hwy 12. It is a little mountain town which will remind one of the 1950's. Horseback rides, hiking, fishing, beautiful mountain scenery and The Dog Bar. The Church is small, large families would find the bathroom small.

The neighborhood is quiet, with well kept private homes. No traffic, mostly people walking or biking. Paradise Coffee is a block away, they have great special coffee's. The Mercantile is a gift shop, wine bar, and has well known guest musicians regularly, also a block away. Charlie's grocery store has an old fashioned ice cream parlor, and traditional meat dept for custom cut meats. The train comes into town twice a week from Alamosa, and stops at the city park for pasengers to get off and walk the town.
