It was a great place to stay! Carriage house was nicely decorated, bed was comfy, internet worked well. Jay is extremely friendly and made me feel at home. Great view into the backyard through a large window. Full kitchen has what you need.

Jay was very helpful in ensuring we were settled in and coordinated with a lovely neighbor to address any questions while away.

Jay was responsive to all of our needs and promptly replied to all emails and phone calls before and during our stay. Our trip to Southbury was driven by family needs and the ability to bring our two cats with us made our trip less stressful. The house is just as described in the ads, as are the pictures. It has a good vibe and was very comfortable. I wish we had more time to share a bottle of wine with our host!

Jay is a thoughtful, cheerful, knowledgeable homeowner. Before we arrived, he carefully prepared for us Chinese green tea, black tea, also bought a big tub of very beautiful flowers for our bedroom, and his welcome to us was very moving. Our house was separate from the main house, clean, tidy, warm and comfortable. The house decoration was simple and elegant, with beautiful pictures and furniture everywhere. We had a functional kitchen complete with appliances. Sitting in the dining room we enjoyed our meals, while also enjoying the beautiful scenery outside the window. We go to sleep at night to the sound of crickets, and wake up in the morning to birds singing. We also received warm greetings from Jay in the morning. He took us to tour his garden, greenhouse room, and historic house, where there is a library with walls of bookcases stuffed with a variety of books and his collection of Chinese paintings. He also introduced his great interest in many countries overseas with handicrafts he collected in his travels. His home is like a museum. He also personally drove us around the beautiful town, told us about its history: the river, the old factory, library, school(two hundred fifty years old). He introduced us to a local Chinese restaurant, and invited us to a local famous Western restaurant for dinner, accompanying us through a wonderful evening. . Here we have had a holiday where we felt the warmth of home.

The house was beautiful and spacious, just as described. It is tastefully decorated and has the charm of a historic cottage. There is also a lovely outdoor patio for eating or relaxing. The city of southbury has nice hiking trails, and parks with jogging paths. Jay was a gracious host. He was helpful and welcoming but definitely gave us privacy. We had a really nice stay.
