The nordic mountain cabin is situated 870 meters above sea level. Integrated in picturesque surroundings w/floor to ceiling windows putting you "inside nature". Easy access to family friendly activities, like cleary waymarked paths a mountain area with small lakes (fishing possible), also Langedrag Wolves park and the Bear Park at Flå ++. At winter time the cabin is connected to a network of trails for cross country skiing and it is only a few minutes by car to visit the Haglebu ski resort.

The space
The Ål-hytta cabins are renowned for their timeless smart designs, practical, quality and modern features. It was built in 2013 and includes electricity, hot/cold water, water closets, shower and most important a dishwasher and a small sauna. The whole cabin is available for the guests, which includes cupboards and closets. There are three bedrooms with 7 beds, an additional bed on the loft and also available sleeping areas in the common room for up to 12 people (we have been 10, which is recommended). The living room and kitchen area is open with lots of windows letting the light and Norwegian mountain view into the room. There is a signature feature double sized couch in the living room which is a favorite for kids to gather or grown ups getting some deserved time to relax.

The cabin has a TV with AppleTV where the guests can use our account for Netflix and HBO Nordic. They can also watch NRK and RedBull TV.

Guest access
The cabin is approximately 2,5 hours drive from Oslo. 3 hours from Gardemoen airport (via hønefoss). We can share a Google Maps link to help you find the exact location. Or help you with directions.

Guests can park their cars on our own parking space outside the cabin, with room for three or four cars. There is an electrical car charger (Type 2) available and two electrical sockets for other cars.

Access to the cabin area and the cabin from the main road is via a barrier, which is closed to limit cars. The radio key to this barrier is found inside the cabin (about a 400 meter walk from the barrier). If possible let us know when you arrive the first time and we will call to open the gate via phone.

The key to the cabin itself is found in a key box outside the cabin.

An outside shed is locked and used as a storage space for our own personal assets. All other areas are available to our guests.

Other things to note
In the summer time there is a removable fence outside the cabin to keep sheep away from the patios. This fence has NO electrical current and can be easily opened by the parking area for easy access.

In the winter time, in case of snow fall the roads all the way to the cabin and parking lot is shoveled by a tractor. We do recommend winter tyres between November and April.

The cabin is on a Cabin area called Nedre Reinsjøfjell next to the Helgeset lake. It has easy access to waymarked paths in the summer and a network of Nordic skiing trails in the winter.

Haglebu ski resort is only five minutes away by car. This is a small resort with a family friendly atmosphere and a café. There are two cafés at Haglebu and a small shop (for larger grocery shopping we recommend Nesbyen(25min), Eggedal (25min), or Flå (40min).

In Flå you can also find the Flå Bear Park which has bears, bnobcats, goats, moose, crocodiles snakes and more. Or Langedrag Wolves park (60 minutes) with wolves, mountain fox, horses, musk, goats, rabbits, moose and a climbing park. Travelling to Gol (50min) you can find larger shopping, a water park and an adventure area. Hemsedal is about 75minutes away and one of the bigger ski resorts in Norway.

At the cabin you can find a map with the different waymarked paths and fishing lakes.

Hi We are the happy parents of two young children (five and eight) living in Oslo, Norway. Trying to balance life more in the life side of the work/life balance (but it isn’t always so simple). My wife is a passionate trial-runner falling further and further in love with long runs in the mountain or forest. My passion is for shorter, but steep uphill climbs on a bike. We are both active and have a cabin were we travel to every weekend to be outside with our children and enjoy a bit of time away from the city. I spend a lot of time delving into the study of how humans and technology change. I travel some during the year to go to conferences or for speaking engagements Our favorite destination is Tokyo, where we travelled to get married in 2006. We are dreaming of going back to Japan in 2018. Other than that, as a family we have spent a lot of our vacations in northern Italy, the Alps and southern France. Often spending a week with a sisters family and grand parents. We do enjoy the beach, but looking back at our history of travel I would say priority number one seems to be to get away from the cold north and priority number two is to have something to do where we are going. I don’t have a life motto but am hugely inspired by a letter from Hunter S. Thompson urging the recipient to let the individual shape the goals in life, not the other way around.
